Sunny Hostin Attacks Fetterman for Voting to Keep Government Open

The View co-host berates Democrat senator for siding with Republicans to avoid starving his own constituents.

If you needed more proof that radical left-wing media figures are completely detached from reality, look no further than Tuesday’s episode of The View. Co-host Sunny Hostin openly scolded Democrat Senator John Fetterman for siding with Republicans to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history a move that literally kept food on the table for millions of Americans.

Yes, you read that correctly. Hostin was outraged that Fetterman voted to prevent federal workers from starving and to restore order amid complete chaos. Her grievance? That Fetterman didn’t toe the progressive line and instead showed a shred of common sense.

Fetterman, who has increasingly positioned himself as a maverick within his party, calmly fired back.

“I promise you, this isn’t a political game,” he said, explaining that 42 million Americans are now uncertain about their next meal when Washington plays games with their livelihoods. He also cited over half a billion dollars in emergency loans taken out by unpaid federal workers just to pay their bills.

But Hostin wasn’t having it. She tore into him for what she claimed was "trusting Republicans" to follow through on back pay and ACA subsidy votes. The implication? That feeding your constituents is somehow a betrayal of progressive values.

  • Hostin even quoted Bernie Sanders and Gavin Newsom, who called the vote a “horrific mistake” and a “surrender”

  • She referenced polling that pinned shutdown blame largely on the GOP, as though public perception should outweigh economic survival

  • And in a stunning moment, she asked Fetterman why he’d bring a "butter knife to a gun fight" over keeping the government open

Fetterman responded that Marjorie Taylor Greene was “the last person” he’d take advice from, brushing off the partisan grandstanding and reiterating that his duty was to his constituents, not media elites or Twitter mobs.

Let’s be clear: the far-Left’s fury isn’t about principle it’s about power. They wanted to use a government shutdown to punish political opponents, even if that meant regular Americans would suffer. Fetterman, to his credit, refused to play along.

What Hostin and the others on The View revealed is a twisted moral compass where party loyalty trumps human decency. They’re more interested in ideological purity tests than in helping real people.

At a time when inflation remains high, grocery bills are crushing working families, and Americans are drowning in debt, it’s absurd that a senator would be vilified for preventing things from getting worse. But in today’s Democratic Party, common sense is the enemy and Hostin just proved it on live TV.
