Stefanik Criticizes Biden for Halting Weapons Shipment to Israel

Biden accused of political desperation as he withholds arms from key ally.

President Joe Biden's decision to withhold arms from Israel during its fight against Iran-backed Hamas has sparked accusations of political desperation. House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) criticized Biden's move in an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” suggesting that the president's actions are driven by faltering poll numbers in states with significant Muslim populations.

  • Political Desperation
Stefanik argues that Biden is pandering to far-Left activists by withholding support from Israel, undermining the crucial U.S.-Israel alliance.

  • Legislative Response
In response, House Republicans passed a bill to pressure the administration to resume the weapons shipment, despite Biden's veto threat. Notably, 16 Democrats joined Republicans in passing the legislation.

  • Congressional Intent
Stefanik emphasized that Biden’s actions betray the intent of Congress, which had previously approved aid to Israel.

Blocking Essential Aid
Earlier this month, Biden halted the delivery of 3,500 large bombs to Israel, opposing a ground operation in Rafah, Gaza. This decision drew sharp condemnation from House Republicans, who view it as a failure to uphold America's commitment to its allies.

Solidarity with Israel
Stefanik, who recently visited Jerusalem, reiterated her unwavering support for Israel. She delivered a speech to the Israeli Knesset, criticizing Biden for blocking aid and easing sanctions on Iran, which she labeled as the world’s leading state sponsor of terror.

“There is no excuse for an American president to block aid to Israel – aid that was duly passed by the Congress,” Stefanik declared. “No excuse to ease sanctions on Iran or to hide while our friends fight for their lives. No excuse. Full stop.”
