Dem Senator Under Federal Investigation for Telling Troops to Defy Orders

Elissa Slotkin and other Democrat lawmakers may face legal consequences for encouraging insubordination in the ranks of the U.S. military.

When Democrats aren’t defunding the police, they’re now apparently telling our troops to disobey orders. Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, a former CIA officer turned radical left-wing politician, is officially under federal investigation after leading a video campaign in which she urged U.S. military personnel to “refuse illegal orders.”

The Department of Justice is now probing Slotkin’s actions, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia reportedly seeking an interview with the senator or her legal team. While the DOJ hasn’t publicly confirmed the investigation, Slotkin herself admitted that federal authorities contacted the Senate sergeant-at-arms about her conduct.

This wasn’t just some offhand remark. Slotkin organized a professionally produced video that featured five other Democratic lawmakers all veterans encouraging active-duty military members to question their chain of command. Among them:

  • Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), a former astronaut and Navy captain

  • Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA)

  • Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-PA)

  • Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO)

  • Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), wife of Biden’s National Security Adviser

In the video, they warn troops that “threats to our Constitution… are coming from right here at home,” before telling them outright: “You must refuse illegal orders.”

This unprecedented political stunt has been blasted as dangerously close to inciting sedition. President Trump called it what it is: “seditious behavior.” While he clarified he wasn’t suggesting the death penalty, Trump reminded the public that “in the old days, it was death” for treason of this kind. His point? Undermining the president’s authority over the military during a time of growing unrest is not just reckless it’s historically punishable.

And now, there are consequences.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth, not one to bow to political games, launched disciplinary action against Mark Kelly, moving to strip the senator of his military rank and retirement pay. Kelly responded with a lawsuit, whining that his First Amendment rights were being violated. His complaint? That he’s being held accountable for statements that no soldier, officer, or statesman should ever make especially not on video.

But Secretary Hegseth was unapologetic, saying Kelly is simply “worried and cranky” because he knows exactly what he did and knows he’ll be held responsible.

This isn’t just about six Democrats grandstanding for the cameras. This is about trust in our military chain of command, and the lengths to which Democrats will go to undermine it. At a time when America’s enemies are watching closely, the last thing we need is a group of radical politicians whispering mutiny into the ears of our armed forces.

Let’s not forget:

  • Over 67% of military personnel reported lower morale under Democratic leadership during the Biden administration, according to a Military Times survey.

  • Military recruitment is at a 25-year low, in part due to politicization from the left.

  • The Pentagon has faced increasing internal strain as woke ideology and left-wing politics seep into defense policy.

It’s a troubling trend, and Slotkin’s stunt only makes it worse. These are elected officials actively encouraging defiance within our armed forces. If a Republican had done this during the Obama era, they'd be facing the full weight of the DOJ, legacy media, and public shame. But because it’s Democrats under Biden, the media shrugs or worse, applauds.

This kind of behavior from public officials is not just unacceptable it’s dangerous. And it’s high time the law caught up with them.
