Senator Slotkin Defies DOJ Investigation Over Military Disobedience Video

Democrat escalates political warfare by refusing to cooperate with probe into calls for troops to disobey orders.

Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin has made it clear she won’t answer questions, and she won’t back down. Instead of cooperating with a federal investigation into her role in a video encouraging U.S. service members to resist so-called “illegal orders,” Slotkin is thumbing her nose at the Justice Department and daring prosecutors to come after her.

In a statement posted to X on Thursday, Slotkin defiantly announced, “I’m not gonna be sitting for this inquiry. I’m not gonna legitimize their actions.” Her legal team is reportedly preparing for potential litigation and has warned federal officials to preserve all related records.

The video at the center of the probe featured Slotkin and five other Democrat lawmakers with military or intelligence backgrounds, advising active-duty troops to reject orders they believe to be unlawful. Critics across the political spectrum most notably President Donald Trump called it reckless and dangerous, accusing the group of stoking sedition within the ranks.

Slotkin insists the video was merely a civics lesson. But federal investigators aren’t buying it, especially in light of her recent comments:

  • She told reporters the DOJ is using “physical and legal intimidation” to silence her.

  • Her legal counsel has formally demanded the DOJ drop the inquiry and reject FBI interviews.

  • She warned that “immunity” for the president does not protect DOJ officials enforcing his will.

Slotkin’s refusal to sit for voluntary questioning now places the ball in the Justice Department’s court. Prosecutors must decide whether to subpoena a sitting senator an extraordinary step that could spark a constitutional showdown.

This isn’t just a legal battle it’s a calculated political stunt.

Slotkin, who narrowly won her Senate seat in 2024 after serving as a CIA analyst and House member, has embraced confrontation as her new brand. She’s repeatedly encouraged Democrats to abandon restraint and lean into “alpha energy,” whatever that’s supposed to mean. That approach has led her to attack federal prosecutors while positioning herself as a victim of persecution.

“If they can do this to a sitting senator,” Slotkin warned, “just imagine what they could do to a mom who goes viral on the internet.” It’s the kind of dramatic deflection you’d expect from someone hoping to score points with far-left activists while dodging accountability.

Meanwhile, the broader implications are deeply disturbing. A sitting U.S. senator helped organize a video that encouraged disobedience within the military ranks at a time when global conflict and domestic unrest are at a boiling point. That’s not civic education. That’s destabilizing.

Some facts worth noting:

  • According to a 2022 RAND report, 18% of active-duty service members said they had witnessed signs of politicization in the military chain of command.

  • A Pew Research poll in late 2023 found that only 48% of Americans believe the military is doing a good job staying out of politics a 20-point drop from just five years ago.

Slotkin’s actions only feed that erosion of trust. Instead of supporting the chain of command and the integrity of the armed forces, she chose to politicize it and now refuses to face the consequences.

This saga should raise alarms not only about what Slotkin did, but about the growing radicalism within Democrat leadership. When a senator feels comfortable urging disobedience among troops and then openly defying the Department of Justice, we’re not just dealing with poor judgment. We’re witnessing the weaponization of political theatrics against the very institutions meant to preserve law and order.

If justice is to mean anything, federal prosecutors must act decisively. No member of Congress is above the law—especially one that tries to undermine those who serve it.
