Senator Suffers Brain Bleed Following Seizure and Ice Fall

The North Dakota senator suffered a seizure, resulting in a dangerous fall on ice.

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) is on the mend after a frightening fall on ice led to a brain bleed and a severe concussion. The 64-year-old senator revealed the incident occurred when he experienced a seizure while walking in his backyard, causing him to slip and hit his head.

Cramer took to social media to share the details of the accident. “While walking on the hill down to the dock, I stepped on ice and evidently fell hard, hitting the back of my head,” he wrote, alongside a photo showing blood on the ice.

What Happened:

  • Severe Injury: A CT scan confirmed Cramer suffered a severe concussion, a seizure, and a slight brain bleed.

  • Medical Response: Doctors treated his head wound with staples and monitored his condition overnight, finding improvement in a follow-up scan.

  • Ongoing Recovery: Cramer is now recuperating at home with anti-seizure medication, surrounded by his family.

The senator’s wife, Kris, has been by his side throughout the ordeal. Cramer shared that she often sends family members brain health tips, jokingly admitting he should have paid more attention to her advice.

President Donald Trump also extended his well wishes, praising Kris for her quick response and expressing hope for Cramer’s full recovery. “He is now resting comfortably, but went through a lot,” Trump said.

Despite the severity of the incident, Cramer remains optimistic. “The head still hurts a bit, but I sleep a lot,” he wrote. “Thank you to all of the folks praying for a full recovery. God is good!”

The senator’s experience serves as a reminder of how dangerous winter conditions can be, especially when combined with medical emergencies like seizures. His quick access to medical care and strong support system were crucial in what could have been a tragic situation.
