Radical Leftist Launches Campaign for Pelosi’s Seat Before She Retires

Even before Nancy Pelosi has had a chance to officially bow out, one of California’s most radical left-wing lawmakers is already jumping in to claim her seat. On Wednesday, California State Senator Scott Wiener a far-left activist best known for his extreme pro-trans and anti-ICE policies announced his campaign to succeed Pelosi in Congress.

The announcement came just hours after reports surfaced that Pelosi, 85, is considering retirement following California’s vote on a redistricting proposal. She’s been in Congress since 1987, but it seems the progressive wing of the Democrat Party isn’t waiting for a polite exit.

Wiener, 55, launched his campaign with the usual far-left rhetoric. “My family escaped fascism in Europe. I never thought the United States would slip into fascism like we’re seeing today.”

And according to Wiener, San Francisco the same city overrun with drugs, crime, homelessness, and economic collapse is somehow “on the right side of history.”

Wiener’s record reads like a wish list for the radical Left:

• Authored the nation’s first LGBTQ “refuge law”, allowing minors to flee conservative states for gender surgeries and hormone treatment in California all without parental consent.

• Funneled $15 million in taxpayer funds to cover so-called “gender-affirming care,” while claiming former President Trump sought to strip it from Medicaid.

• Championed a bill to restrict federal immigration agents from operating in California, specifically targeting ICE officers with legislation designed to “unmask” them.

• Promotes a full removal of ICE from the state, boasting that in Congress he’ll “get ICE OUT OF CALIFORNIA!!!”

In case the message wasn’t clear, Wiener’s campaign logo proudly features a rainbow flag not the American flag.

This isn’t just a San Francisco story. If Pelosi steps aside and Wiener wins, it marks another major shift in the Democratic Party toward radical identity politics and lawless open-border activism. And this isn't just rhetoric the bills he pushes have already become law under Gov. Gavin Newsom, including one that directly challenges the authority of federal immigration enforcement.

“We don’t need to abide by this garbage,” a DHS official fired back in response to Wiener’s ICE ban law.

Meanwhile, San Francisco continues to spiral into dysfunction. President Donald Trump has already announced the city is a target for upcoming ICE operations and may even deploy the National Guard if state and local leaders won’t act. DHS officials confirmed San Francisco is now a top priority alongside other failed blue cities like Portland and Chicago.

This campaign is shaping up to be more than just a local race. It’s a referendum on the future of the Democratic Party and by extension, the country. Will voters hand over a seat in Congress to a politician who prioritizes drag shows and sanctuary laws over crime, border security, and parental rights?

Wiener’s premature launch is a clear message to Pelosi: the far-left isn’t waiting anymore. And unless voters stand up, they may find themselves stuck with someone even worse than Pelosi.
