Savannah Guthrie, Siblings Request Proof of Life in Public Appeal for Missing Mother

Trump orders full federal support as ransom threats raise fears for missing Arizona grandmother.

The nation is watching as Savannah Guthrie delivers one of the most emotional pleas of her life not as a television host, but as a daughter begging for her mother’s safe return.

For the first time since Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of the Today show host, vanished from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, Savannah and her siblings have gone public with a desperate appeal. Their message was direct, heartfelt, and chillingly urgent: prove she is alive.

“We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her,” Savannah said in a video released Wednesday night. “We are ready to talk… Please reach out to us.”

Standing alongside her brother Camron and sister Annie, Guthrie spoke not only to the suspected perpetrator, but also directly to her mother delivering a raw message of faith and determination that has gripped viewers nationwide.

“Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman… Everyone is looking for you. We will not rest until we are together again.”

The family revealed that Nancy suffers from chronic pain and requires medication, raising the stakes and intensifying fears about her condition if she is being held against her will.

The emotional plea follows mounting reports of a ransom demand, which law enforcement officials are now actively investigating. According to local media outlets that reportedly received a letter connected to the case, the suspect demanded millions in cryptocurrency, issuing a strict deadline and threatening Nancy’s life if the payment was not made.

Veteran crime journalist Nancy Grace said the ransom message must be taken seriously, noting Guthrie’s legal background and familiarity with criminal investigations.

“She wouldn’t make a public plea like this unless there was credible reason to believe the threat was real,” Grace said.

Meanwhile, federal authorities are stepping in aggressively and fast.

President Donald Trump personally spoke with Guthrie on Wednesday and immediately directed all federal law enforcement agencies to assist local investigators.

“We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely,” Trump said. “The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed investigators currently have no suspects or persons of interest, leaving authorities racing against time as they search for clues. Sheriff Chris Nanos has not yet confirmed whether Nancy was specifically targeted or if the crime appears random.

Kidnapping cases involving elderly victims are particularly dangerous. According to FBI data, roughly 40% of kidnapping victims over age 65 suffer serious medical complications during captivity, often due to medication deprivation or untreated injuries. Additionally, federal statistics show that ransom kidnappings involving cryptocurrency have increased by over 300% since 2021, complicating law enforcement tracking efforts.

As investigators prepare to release their next official update, the Guthrie family’s plea has struck a chord across the country, highlighting the brutal human cost behind what is now becoming a high-profile national investigation.

The family has made one thing clear: they will not stop searching.
