Russian Drone Strike on Kyiv Kills 3, Injures 31 Including Children
Zelensky demands harsher sanctions as Russia ramps up deadly attacks deep inside Ukraine’s capital.

In yet another brutal overnight assault, Russian drone attacks on Kyiv killed three people and injured at least 31 more, including three children, according to Ukrainian authorities. President Volodymyr Zelensky responded with a renewed plea to the international community impose tougher sanctions now.
The attack, one of the most aggressive on the capital in recent weeks, devastated two high-rise apartment complexes in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district. Debris from the aerial assault triggered a fire that tore through multiple floors of a nine-story building.
“Every Russian strike is an attempt to inflict as much damage as possible on ordinary life,” Zelensky stated via Telegram.
“We need new tariff and sanctions restrictions against Russia and all those helping it stay afloat.”
Ukraine’s emergency services reported 13 people rescued from upper floors, narrowly escaping the inferno. Seven of the injured including two children were rushed to local hospitals, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 101 drones overnight, with 90 successfully intercepted. But the remaining strikes were enough to cause mass destruction and more civilian trauma in the nation’s capital.
In just the past week alone, Russia has reportedly launched:
Over 1,200 attack drones
More than 1,360 guided aerial bombs
50+ missiles of various types
And still, the global community hesitates.
Despite repeated claims from both Moscow and Kyiv that they don’t target civilians, the facts on the ground tell a different story. Thousands of Ukrainians many of them civilians have been killed since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022. And as attacks like these continue to reach deep into residential neighborhoods, those denials ring increasingly hollow.
The air raid in Kyiv triggered emergency alerts that lasted over 90 minutes before they were lifted just after midnight local time. Though Ukraine’s air defenses remain among the most capable in Europe, they’re increasingly stretched thin as Russia escalates the scale and frequency of its long-range attacks.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration and much of Europe continue to issue statements without consequences, refusing to hit Russia where it truly hurts its economy, its banking systems, and its defense manufacturing supply chains.
Zelensky’s appeal for additional sanctions wasn’t just political it was personal. With three civilians dead, homes destroyed, and children bleeding in hospitals, the message is clear: the time for half-measures is over.
Russia continues to exploit weaknesses in Western resolve, and innocent lives are paying the price.
