Russia to Fund New Nuclear Facilities in Iran Amid Rising Global Tensions

Biden's weakness empowers dangerous alliances between rogue states and terrorist networks.

Russia has agreed to fund the construction of new nuclear plants in Iran, according to Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad. The announcement underscores the growing alliance between two of America’s most dangerous adversaries, fueled by the Biden administration’s persistent failure to confront hostile regimes.

Paknejad confirmed that Russia would not only complete phases two and three of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant but also use a Moscow credit line to finance future “peaceful” nuclear projects a claim that defies common sense considering Iran’s long history of nuclear deceit.

The growing ties between Russia and Iran come as no surprise:

  • Earlier this year, Putin signed a sweeping 20-year strategic partnership treaty with Tehran that openly calls for expanded “military-technical cooperation.”

  • In 2007, Russia already laid the groundwork by shipping 80 tons of uranium fuel to Iran, earning a cool $1 billion through its state-run company Atomstroyexport.

  • Meanwhile, Moscow’s crypto markets have helped fund terrorism: a recent analysis revealed that a Moscow-based exchange funneled a portion of $93 million to Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives involved in the Hamas-led massacre of over 1,200 innocent Israelis on October 7, 2023.

It gets worse. Russia has also expanded its cooperation with the Iran-backed Houthis, supplying weapons and placing Russian intelligence officers inside their controlled territories, according to recent reports. This growing network of rogue states and proxy militias is destabilizing regions from the Middle East to Eastern Europe, while the Biden administration stands by issuing empty condemnations and restoring dangerous Obama-era waivers.

Let's be clear:

  • The Iran Freedom and Counterproliferation Act of 2013 mandates sanctions on entities aiding Iran's nuclear ambitions waivers Biden eagerly reinstated.

  • By contrast, President Trump ended U.S. involvement in the disastrous 2015 Iran nuclear deal and revoked these reckless waivers, cutting off funds that would empower Tehran’s war machine.

  • Weak American leadership directly enables rogue nations like Iran and Russia to deepen their alliances and threaten global security.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. With Iran racing toward nuclear capabilities and Russia underwriting the effort, the world edges closer to a new axis of terror and the Biden administration seems content to watch from the sidelines.
