Russia Slams Trump’s Greenland Plan While Expanding Its Own Arctic Power
Kremlin denies ambitions in Greenland but fast-tracks Arctic militarization as Trump defends American security interests.

Moscow is rattled and it shows. The Kremlin lashed out Friday at President Donald Trump’s push to acquire Greenland, calling the U.S. initiative “extraordinary from the standpoint of international law.” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in a bizarre twist of irony, criticized Trump for disregarding global norms, saying, “Trump has said that international law is not a priority for him.”
Let’s pause for a moment this is coming from a regime that launched an unprovoked war in Ukraine, killed thousands of civilians in missile strikes, and has repeatedly violated international law with chemical weapons, election interference, and territorial invasions. Russia lecturing anyone on legality is laughable.
Trump’s proposal to acquire Greenland the world’s largest island and a critical strategic point in the Arctic has sent globalist elites and foreign adversaries into a panic. Why? Because Trump is thinking ahead, not just playing defense. He’s securing America’s position in the rapidly militarizing Arctic before China and Russia beat us to it.
“If we don’t take Greenland, Russia or China will take Greenland, and that is not going to happen,” Trump said earlier this week.
And he’s absolutely right. Russia and China aren’t hiding their intentions. Just last year:
Russia built more icebreakers than the U.S. has in its entire history, essential for Arctic navigation and control.
China labeled itself a “near-Arctic state” and has ramped up investment and research in the region.
Russia has deployed new missile systems and bases along the Arctic coast, all within striking distance of North America.
Trump’s plan isn’t about empire-building it’s national security 101.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, serving as Trump’s special envoy to Greenland, laid it out plainly: “They aren’t just building icebreakers for fun,” he said. “It is vital that America secures Greenland and reinforces the Monroe Doctrine for the future of national security.”
And while Trump is focused on protecting American interests, NATO allies like Denmark and appeasers in Congress are throwing tantrums about “territorial integrity.” Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen declared that Trump’s plan was “totally unacceptable,” even as NATO troops conduct Arctic drills that conveniently anger Moscow.
Meanwhile, Russia is accusing NATO of using Trump’s statements as a “fictitious pretext” to increase their presence. But here’s the truth: Russia is already in the Arctic, building, advancing, and expanding because they know its strategic value. They just don’t want the U.S. catching up under Trump’s leadership.
And let’s not forget Trump’s ultimate vision: a “Golden Dome” of defense that shields America from missile attacks and Greenland is key to making that a reality.
While Joe Biden lets adversaries walk all over America, Trump is showing leadership and foresight. He’s not afraid of international blowback. He’s not interested in begging Denmark for permission. And he certainly doesn’t care what Russia thinks. He cares about winning for America.
