Rubio Says Concessions Are Key to Ukraine Russia Peace Deal
As Trump leads talks, Secretary of State outlines realistic path forward to end years-long war.

While the Biden administration spent years escalating tensions and writing endless blank checks to Ukraine, President Trump is now doing what real leaders do laying the groundwork for peace. And according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, there’s only one way that peace can happen: through compromise.
Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press this Sunday, Rubio told anchor Kristen Welker the hard truth the media rarely admits.
“Everybody goes into a negotiation wanting 100% of what they want... The only way to reach a deal is for each side to get something, and each side to give something.”
That’s not surrender it’s diplomacy. And it's a sharp contrast to the ideological rigidity that’s kept the war grinding on for more than three years.
Rubio’s comments came just days after President Trump met with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, signaling the most serious attempt at brokering peace since the conflict began. Trump is reportedly exploring real, workable proposals including land swaps and safety guarantees to finally bring this bloodshed to an end.
Here’s what the establishment doesn’t want to talk about:
The Biden White House has committed over $175 billion in aid to Ukraine, with no strategy and no endgame.
More than 500,000 people have died as a result of the war, with millions more displaced.
After years of failure, it’s now Donald Trump leading negotiations that could actually stop the bloodshed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and key European leaders are expected to meet with Trump at the White House on Monday. If progress is made, another round of talks with Putin may follow.
And there’s more: U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff revealed Sunday that the Trump team has already made historic progress on one of the war’s most contentious issues NATO membership. Speaking to CNN, Witkoff said. “We were able to win the following concession: that the United States could offer Article 5-like protection... It’s the first time we had ever heard the Russians agree to that.”
That’s a stunning breakthrough. Without formally entering NATO which Putin has long opposed Ukraine could still receive U.S.-backed defensive assurances. It’s a major step forward that bypasses bureaucratic red tape and gets straight to the point: protecting Ukrainian sovereignty without dragging America into another forever war.
Rubio is right. Real peace requires each side to give and take. And for the first time in years, thanks to President Trump’s leadership, there’s a real path toward ending this brutal war.
The question now is whether the globalist class and warmongers in D.C. will let it happen or whether they’ll do everything in their power to stop Trump from succeeding again.
