Marco Rubio Implements New Travel Approval Requirements for State Dept Officials
A bold step to curb left-wing activism abroad under the Trump administration.
In a decisive move to align the State Department with the Trump administration's America-first priorities, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has implemented a review and approval system for all official travel by department officials. This new directive is a key part of President Trump's strategy to ensure executive branch operations reflect the administration's policies and values.
Rubio’s initiative is designed to address concerns about the misuse of taxpayer funds and ensure that international trips are not used to further left-wing agendas. Under the Biden administration, officials embarked on extensive global travel promoting progressive ideologies efforts now under scrutiny for their relevance to American interests.
During the Biden era, State Department officials often championed far-left causes overseas. Jessica Stern, previously tasked with advancing LGBTQ+ rights, visited 22 countries across six continents, spreading what critics have described as "transgender ideology." Her activities included:
Marching alongside a self-identified "transvestite sl*t" in Brazil while celebrating the presence of children at a pride parade in Lithuania.
Advocating for removing gender markers from national ID systems in Brazil.
Promoting the end of conversion therapy practices and addressing intersecting discrimination against Indigenous and Afro-descendant LGBTQ+ individuals.
Stern’s trips also extended to Sweden, where she engaged with government officials, development agencies, and members of parliament to push similar initiatives.
Another figure, Desiree Cormier Smith, served as the Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice under Biden and reportedly undertook similar efforts abroad. Both Stern and Smith have since left their positions, as confirmed by recent reports.
Rubio’s travel approval system enables Trump administration officials to cancel trips planned during the previous administration if deemed inconsistent with current policy goals. This measure is not only a push for greater accountability but also a move to restore focus on issues that directly impact the American people.
By addressing the overreach of prior administrations and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly, Rubio is cementing his role as a key figure in realigning the State Department with the Trump administration’s conservative principles.
