Marco Rubio Refuses to Attend G20 in South Africa Over Leftist Agenda

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has made it clear: he will not be attending the G20 summit in South Africa next November. His reason? South Africa’s radical leftist policies, which include land seizures without compensation, prioritizing DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), and pushing extreme climate change policies.

Rubio took to X to announce his decision, stating, “South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote ‘solidarity, equality, & sustainability.’ In other words: DEI and climate change.” He made it clear that his role is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money appeasing anti-American regimes.

• Land Seizures Without Compensation–In January, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed a law allowing the government to seize private land with no compensation, replacing the 1975 law that required fair payment. Now, land can be taken if deemed “just and equitable” in the name of the so-called “public interest.”

• Radical DEI and Climate Agenda–South Africa’s G20 theme of “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability” is nothing more than leftist jargon for pushing DEI and climate policies that hurt economic growth and property rights.

• Pro-Hamas, Anti-Israel Stance–South Africa not only condemned Israel in the immediate aftermath of the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks, but also filed a false “genocide” case against Israel in the International Court of Justice. The South African government has openly welcomed the Russian and Chinese navies while cozying up to regimes hostile to the United States.

As Israeli spokesman Daniel Rubenstein pointed out, South Africa didn’t even wait a day to blame Israel for Hamas’s slaughter of over 1,200 innocent people. Instead, their government justified the attacks by blaming Israel’s “illegal occupation” and settlement expansion.

Under Biden, America has allowed international bad actors like South Africa to go unchecked. Rubio’s refusal to attend the G20 summit is a much-needed rejection of globalist, anti-American policies. If only the rest of the Biden administration had the same backbone.
