Rubio Slams Biden Administration For Abandoning Havana Syndrome Victims

The Secretary of State vows transparency and support for affected U.S. personnel.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized the Biden administration for dismissing victims of the mysterious Havana Syndrome, calling their treatment “outrageous” during a recent interview. The syndrome, which has plagued U.S. diplomats and intelligence operatives for years, has caused severe neurological symptoms, with some cases leading to permanent disability.

Rubio’s comments came during an interview with Catherine Herridge, where he expressed confidence that more information about the attacks would surface under the Trump administration. Rubio emphasized that the Biden administration’s 2023 assessment suggesting a foreign adversary was not responsible and attributing symptoms to pre-existing conditions was both premature and dismissive.

When asked whether directed energy weapons were involved, Rubio stated:

  • Strong Doubts About Official Reports: “I do not believe... that these things happened by accident, that these things were a result of mass hysteria or some pre-existing conditions,” Rubio said.

  • Global Impact: He highlighted that incidents occurred not only in Havana but also at various posts worldwide, suggesting a broader, more coordinated threat.

  • Evidence Of External Attacks: Rubio shared his interactions with victims, describing their injuries as consistent with “being hit over the head with a baseball bat,” underscoring the physical toll and the need for a credible investigation.

Havana Syndrome was first reported in 2016 when U.S. personnel in Havana, Cuba, began experiencing sudden and debilitating symptoms. Victims have described intense headaches, memory loss, loss of balance, and hearing problems. For some, the damage was so severe that it forced early retirement.

While the Biden administration downplayed the incidents, Rubio made clear that under Trump, there would be a new approach:

  • Transparency and Support: “This State Department is going to be transparent with them. Anything we know, they will know.”

  • Treating Victims With Respect: Rubio emphasized, “We are going to assume the worst and treat them as if they were victims... harmed by serving our country overseas.”

The Biden administration’s stance, which Rubio described as insinuating mass hysteria or faked symptoms, has left many of the affected personnel feeling abandoned. His pledge to offer ongoing support marks a sharp departure from the dismissive attitude of the current administration.

The potential use of directed energy weapons or other covert technology against U.S. officials remains a critical national security concern. Rubio’s commitment to uncovering the truth is a vital step in ensuring that those who serve the country are not forgotten.
