California Democrat Roasted for Hypocrisy After Complaining About Mayor's Arrest
Khanna claims Trump admin targets opponents gets reminded who really used lawfare for politics.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) thought he’d score political points Friday when he lashed out at President Donald Trump’s administration for the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka outside a federal detention center but instead, he got steamrolled by a tidal wave of Trump supporters armed with facts and mugshots.
Khanna’s post on X (formerly Twitter) accused Trump’s Department of Homeland Security of arresting political opponents simply for protesting:
“The Trump @JDVance Administration has just arrested a mayor in Newark and shoved Members of Congress for protesting outside of an ICE facility. In America, you cannot arrest your political opponents.”
The irony was too rich for the internet to ignore.
Within minutes, Khanna’s feed was buried in photos of Trump’s mugshots from the politically motivated indictments launched under the Biden administration. It wasn’t Trump arresting opponents it was Biden’s DOJ that tried to jail its top rival ahead of a national election.
And users wasted no time pointing out the double standard:
“In America, you cannot arrest your political opponents,” one user mocked, posting Trump’s now-iconic New York Post mugshot cover.
“No one is above the law” suddenly didn’t apply now that Democrats were being cuffed.
Even Khanna’s own past tweets came back to bite him, as users quoted his previous declaration: “Being a member of Congress doesn’t give you the right to obstruct the rule of law.”
Let’s not forget the facts behind the incident that triggered this meltdown: Mayor Ras Baraka and three Democrat members of Congress stormed a secure ICE detention facility, waiting for a gate to open before illegally entering with no authorization. DHS made clear that if any of the other lawmakers Reps. Bonnie Watson-Coleman, LaMonica McIver, or Rob Menendez are shown to have broken the law, they too could be arrested.
Vice President JD Vance didn’t mince words, calling Khanna’s outburst for what it was pure hypocrisy:
“As the honorable Ro Khanna himself has said, being a member of Congress doesn’t give you the right to ‘obstruct the rule of law.’”
This isn’t about protest it’s about lawless officials believing their titles make them untouchable. Baraka wasn’t arrested for holding a sign. He was arrested for breaking into a federal facility housing criminal illegal aliens something even Democrat-appointed judges would call a felony.
While Khanna and the rest of the progressive elite cry foul, the Trump administration is showing that the law applies to everyone, including Democrats who think they’re above it.
And if Khanna truly believes arresting political opponents is wrong, he should start by condemning the lawfare machine his party built to try and take down Trump with more bogus charges than John Gotti.
