More Than 200 Retired Military Leaders Back Trump for President

Retired Generals and Admirals Urge Return to Trump’s Leadership Amid Mounting Threats.

This week, more than 200 retired U.S. generals and admirals publicly endorsed former President Donald Trump for president in 2024, citing grave concerns over the current administration’s handling of national security and the future of the country. In a letter posted by Flag Officers 4 America, these military leaders painted a dire picture of the state of America’s defense and called for a return to Trump’s proven leadership.

“It can be argued easily this is the most important election since our Nation was founded,” they wrote. “We are at a historic crossroad where we must either choose to stand for our Constitution and its underlying traditional values which have made America great, or we continue down the path the current administration’s top leadership is taking into the deadly abyss of socialism and authoritarian cultural Marxism.”

Key Concerns Raised by the Military Leaders:

  • National Security at Risk: The retired officers warned that under the Biden-Harris administration, the U.S. faces unprecedented threats from foreign adversaries such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. “Our national security is in serious jeopardy and our adversaries know it,” the letter states, pointing to a rapidly expanding aggressiveness from these nations that was kept in check during Trump’s presidency.

  • Border Crisis and Immigration: They criticized the administration’s open borders policy, highlighting the dangerous influx of millions of unvetted illegal immigrants, including ~100,000 Chinese nationals, many of military age, as well as criminals and terrorists. The letter predicted future terrorist attacks on U.S. soil as a near certainty if these policies continue. “Border security is national security,” they emphasized.

  • Economic Impact on Defense: Inflation, driven by the administration’s policies, has placed additional strain on military readiness. With interest on the national debt now exceeding the defense budget, the retired leaders warned that every dollar spent on debt interest is a dollar diverted from equipping and training U.S. forces. “That is not sustainable,” they wrote, adding that Trump’s economic policies had previously stabilized the nation.

Perhaps most strikingly, the letter referenced concerns about President Biden’s physical and mental health, reiterating a 2021 letter signed by over 200 flag officers. They noted that Biden’s obvious impairments have been concealed by the administration, raising serious doubts about his ability to make quick, decisive national security decisions.

Why They Endorse Trump

The military leaders argue that Trump’s track record on national security, foreign policy, and economic strength made America safer. They credited him with standing up to adversaries, strengthening the U.S. military, and implementing policies that worked, even in the face of opposition. “His policies, coupled with his ability to implement them... worked before and will work again.”

The letter closes by warning that a Harris presidency — as Vice President Kamala Harris is now leading the Democratic ticket — would continue the dangerous trajectory the country is currently on. The only way to reverse these policies, they argue, is to elect Donald Trump.

As Election Day approaches, the endorsement from such a large contingent of military leaders serves as a significant reminder of the stakes. With the future of national security on the line, the generals and admirals are making it clear: Trump is the leader America needs.
