85 Retired U.S. Generals and Admirals Call for Unwavering Support for Israel

The military leaders urge the U.S. to fully back Israel against Iran and its terror proxies, warning that America’s own security is at stake.

On the one-year anniversary of the Hamas October 7 massacre, a group of 85 retired U.S. generals and admirals published an open letter calling for the United States to fully support Israel in its fight against the Iranian terror axis, which includes Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and Iran itself. The letter, released on Monday, underscores the need for unequivocal backing as Israel confronts an existential threat that also jeopardizes American security.

The letter begins by acknowledging Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israel, which claimed the lives of more than 1,200 Israelis. The retired military leaders warn that this war is not limited to Israel and that Iran’s reign of terror transcends boundaries, posing a direct threat to both the United States and Israel. “Iran and its terror proxies do not distinguish between Israel and the United States,” they wrote, pointing to a series of attacks on both nations in recent years.

Key points from the letter include:

  • There should be no ceasefire until Israel has achieved the necessary conditions for peace and security, particularly as it battles Hezbollah in Lebanon.

  • The United States must continue to provide Israel with critical weaponry and logistical support, ensuring that “there is no daylight” between the two nations.

  • The conflict is described as a “global civilizational struggle,” with the retired generals warning that the enemies of Israel are also enemies of the United States.

The letter also highlights Israel’s success in dismantling Hamas’ organized military and turning its attention to the Hezbollah threat in Lebanon. With Hezbollah responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans and armed by Iran, Israel’s fight against the group is seen as a crucial blow to Iran’s strongest proxy in the region.

The military leaders remind Americans of the vital importance of standing with Israel, noting that Iran’s terror network spans the globe. “October 7 is not an isolated incident, but one front in a much larger global civilizational struggle,” they argue, emphasizing that Israel’s battle is America's fight as well.

As Israel continues its operations against Hezbollah, the letter stresses that the U.S. must act swiftly, providing Israel with the weapons and support it needs. At stake, they argue, is not just Israel’s survival, but America’s credibility and security interests.
