Republican Senators Condemn Biden’s Border Policies: 'He Invited the Chaos'
GOP leaders condemn Biden’s amnesty plan, accusing him of worsening the border crisis.
Republican Senators have launched a scathing critique of President Joe Biden's immigration policies, accusing him of instigating chaos at America’s southern border. Led by Senator James Lankford (R-OK), the group of 16 GOP Senators addressed Biden in a letter condemning his recent decision to grant amnesty to approximately 550,000 illegal immigrants, most of whom are married to U.S. citizens. This plan allows these individuals to become citizens after being paroled.
“We write today to express our grave concerns regarding your proposal to offer amnesty to illegal aliens who are unlawfully present in the United States,” the Senators began. “This action directly contravenes the laws Congress has passed, and it will throw fuel on the fire of the ongoing border crisis.”
The letter emphasizes that parole was never intended as a mass amnesty tool.
GOP Senators argue Biden’s actions violate clear legal standards.
Criticism highlights the rollback of key border security measures.
The Senators accused Biden of dismantling crucial border security measures since the start of his administration. They specifically pointed to the termination of the Remain in Mexico program, asylum cooperative agreements, and revised ICE enforcement priorities that have limited the deportation of illegal immigrants.
“These actions and many others have invited the chaos that is present at the border and in communities across the country,” the letter asserted, urging Biden to focus on securing the border against cartels and other adversaries exploiting the current situation.
Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, echoed these sentiments, criticizing Biden’s new amnesty program. “This president is sending a loud and clear message to any would-be border crosser that the door is not only wide open — there’s a welcome mat,” Green stated.
Under Biden’s administration, the United States has witnessed an unprecedented crisis at the southern border. Immigration authorities have recorded over 9.5 million encounters nationwide and an estimated 1.7 million illegal immigrant "gotaways." This surge has significantly contributed to the all-time high of 51.6 million foreign-born residents currently living in the U.S.
The Republican Senators' letter underscores a deep frustration with Biden's handling of immigration, reflecting a broader concern over national security and the integrity of U.S. borders.
