Pritzker Silent as Chicago Descends Into Chaos and Deadly Violence

While innocent citizens burn and bullets fly, Illinois’ Democrat governor refuses help from Trump and stays silent.

Chicago is spiraling into violent lawlessness and Governor JB Pritzker has absolutely nothing to say about it. As the city reels from a brutal week of violence, including a horrifying attack on a young woman set on fire in public and a deadly shooting just steps away from the city’s Christmas tree lighting, the Democrat governor of Illinois has yet to make a single public statement.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has once again offered to deploy the National Guard to restore order and protect innocent lives. But instead of acting, Pritzker and Chicago’s left-wing mayor, Brandon Johnson, are doubling down on failure.

On Monday, 26-year-old Jaslyn Adams (identified by family) was riding Chicago’s public transit when career criminal Lawrence Reed doused her in gasoline and set her on fire, reportedly shouting, “burn btch” and “burn alive btch.” The savage act shocked even a city accustomed to rising crime.

And just days later, following the city’s official Christmas tree lighting ceremony, gunfire erupted in the Loop. One person was killed and eight others were injured. Instead of deploying more law enforcement or accepting federal aid, Mayor Johnson gave the same tired speech, calling on “parents and guardians” to stop the violence.

Seriously?

President Trump has repeatedly offered help. Here’s what he posted on Truth Social:

“The people are chanting, BRING IN TRUMP!!! Pritzker needs help badly, just doesn’t know it yet. I will solve the crime problem fast, just like I did in DC. Chicago will be safe again.”

Trump isn’t wrong. Under his administration, violent unrest in Washington, D.C. was swiftly shut down when the National Guard was deployed. The president understands that law and order isn’t optional it’s essential.

Let’s be clear:

  • A woman was set on fire in broad daylight.

  • A mass shooting followed a holiday celebration in the heart of the city.

  • The governor hasn’t said a single word.

  • The mayor is asking parents to chaperone gang-infested streets.

This isn’t leadership. This is deliberate neglect.

Governor Pritzker has long rejected federal assistance purely because it comes from President Trump. But his pride is costing lives. Chicagoans are living in fear, and the politicians in charge are more worried about optics and progressive ideology than actual safety.

According to FBI crime data, Chicago remains one of the most dangerous major cities in America, with more than 600 homicides in 2024 alone. Assaults, carjackings, and random attacks on public transportation continue to surge. And still no response from the state’s top executive.

Pritzker’s silence isn’t just cowardice it’s complicity.

It’s time for the people of Illinois to demand better. If Democrat leadership won’t act to protect its citizens, President Trump stands ready to restore order just like he always has.
