Pritzker Signs Bill Giving Financial Aid to Illegal Immigrants

Illinois opens taxpayer-funded aid to illegals while drowning in debt and neglecting its own citizens.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has once again proven that in the modern Democratic Party, illegal immigrants come first and American citizens come last.

In a move that infuriated taxpayers across the state, Pritzker signed a bill this week granting state-funded financial aid to illegal immigrants, opening up scholarships and benefits to anyone living in Illinois, regardless of immigration status.

The bill was pushed under the guise of “equity,” declaring that any student residing in the state including those in the country illegall can receive taxpayer-funded financial aid. This includes individuals who have failed to register for Selective Service or entered the country unlawfully, all of whom are now eligible for state assistance.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) didn’t hold back in her criticism:

“Allowing taxpayer-funded financial aid for illegal aliens is a slap in the face to hardworking Illinois families and students. Our state is drowning in debt, yet JB Pritzker is determined to drain even more taxpayer dollars to reward illegals. It's absolutely shameful.”

She’s right and the numbers back her up.

  • Illinois has the worst credit rating of any U.S. state, barely scraping by with a BBB rating.

  • The state is facing over $140 billion in pension liabilities, along with massive deficits.

  • Meanwhile, college tuition for in-state students continues to climb, and state aid programs are already under strain.

Yet somehow, Pritzker and Illinois Democrats found it appropriate to divert limited resources to individuals who are in the country illegally rather than helping Illinois families who are struggling to make ends meet or students who actually followed the rules.

Democrat State Senator Celina Villanueva, a vocal supporter of the bill, celebrated it as a step toward “inclusion”:

“If you live in Illinois and are pursuing higher education, you should have access to the same opportunities as your peers.”

Except that’s not how law or sovereignty works. Citizenship and legal status are not inconveniences to be erased by progressive virtue signaling. They are foundations of a functioning country.

The Illinois GOP slammed Pritzker for once again prioritizing illegals over citizens, saying:

“Illinois taxpayers should not have their hard-earned taxpayer dollars pay for benefits to illegal immigrants who shouldn't be here in the first place.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t just an Illinois problem. It’s the blueprint for what the national Democratic Party has in mind erasing the line between citizens and non-citizens, while making the American taxpayer foot the bill.

It’s no secret that Pritzker is testing the waters for a future presidential run. And this bill sends a loud message: he’d rather cater to illegal immigrants than take care of the people who built this country.
