Colombian President Calls to ‘Get Rid of Trump’ Amid Escalating Drug War
Gustavo Petro aligns with socialists and attacks U.S. sovereignty as Trump cracks down on narco-terror in the Caribbean.

As President Donald Trump ramps up counter-narcotics operations in the Caribbean to stem the deadly tide of drugs pouring into the United States, Colombian President Gustavo Petro has issued a chilling statement “Get rid of Trump.”
In an interview with Univision on Monday, Petro was asked about the best possible path forward in negotiations with the Trump administration. His answer stunned even seasoned analysts.
“Humanity has a first offramp, it is to choose to change Trump in various ways… If not, get rid of Trump,” he said while snapping his fingers.
This wasn’t a misquote. This wasn’t a slip. This was a sitting foreign leader casually calling for the removal or worse of the President of the United States. It comes as Trump has launched a no-nonsense crackdown on Latin American drug trafficking networks, deploying military and intelligence resources across the Caribbean to strike down cartel operations with precision.
In recent weeks, these efforts have already neutralized multiple cartel vessels, resulting in the deaths of over two dozen suspected narco-terrorists. And President Trump isn’t stopping there.
Trump’s strategy includes:
Cutting foreign aid to countries that refuse to cooperate, including Colombia
Imposing new tariffs on governments that harbor or enable drug traffickers
Authorizing covert CIA operations targeting the Maduro regime in Venezuela, Petro’s newest political ally
Petro, a former Marxist guerrilla with deep ties to socialist movements, has been distancing Colombia from the U.S., all while warming up to Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. Wes Tabor, a former DEA leader in the region, summed it up: “Petro’s background is steeped in socialism, Marxism, guerrilla warfare… They’re siding with Maduro now.”
What we’re witnessing is a dangerous geopolitical shift. A once-reliable U.S. partner in the war on drugs is now slandering America, accusing our military of murder, and calling for the removal of an American president all while cozying up to authoritarian thugs.
Just last week, Petro falsely claimed that U.S. forces had killed a fisherman, not a narco trafficker, during operations in Colombian waters.
“U.S. government officials have committed a murder and violated our sovereignty,” Petro wrote online a baseless charge meant to inflame anti-American sentiment.
But let’s be clear: President Trump is doing what no one else has had the courage to do putting America first and taking the fight directly to the cartels and the regimes that shelter them.
The opioid and fentanyl crisis has already killed over 100,000 Americans in a single year, and much of it originates from the very routes Trump is now targeting. Yet instead of joining forces with the U.S. to stop this poison, Petro has chosen sides and it’s not with the American people.
Now, faced with an actual leader who refuses to play globalist games, Petro is lashing out not just with words, but with threats.
This is a warning sign.
When foreign leaders feel emboldened to openly advocate for the removal of a U.S. president because he won’t bow to their corruption, it’s proof that Trump is doing exactly what needs to be done.
