Pennsylvania Authorities Reveal Identities of Attempted Trump Assassination Victims

Heroic acts and community support follow the violent attack at Butler rally.

In the aftermath of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, authorities have identified the victims and provided updates on their conditions. Two individuals critically injured in the attack are now in stable condition, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The violent incident occurred when Trump was struck in the ear by a bullet fired by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The attack claimed the life of 50-year-old Corey Comperatore of Sarver, Pennsylvania, who heroically shielded his family from the bullets. Two other victims, 57-year-old David Dutch of New Kensington and 74-year-old James Copenhaver of Moon Township, were hospitalized but are reported to be in stable condition.

Key Points:

  • Heroic Sacrifice: Corey Comperatore, a firefighter and father, was killed protecting his family.

  • Victim Identification: David Dutch and James Copenhaver are stable after sustaining injuries.

  • Community Response: Governor Josh Shapiro ordered flags at half-staff to honor Comperatore.

“These victims and their families are certainly in our thoughts today,” said Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Colonel Christopher Paris. “The Pennsylvania State Police continue to work tirelessly alongside our federal, state, and local partners as this investigation continues.”

Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered all American and commonwealth flags to be lowered to half-staff to honor Comperatore, who was celebrated as a community hero. Comperatore was described as a pillar of his community, known for his dedication and service as a firefighter and his devotion to his family.

In response to the tragedy, former President Trump authorized the creation of a GoFundMe page to support the victims and their families. The page states, “President Donald Trump has authorized this account as a place for donations to the supporters and families wounded or killed in today’s brutal and horrific assassination attempt. All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover. May God bless and unite our nation.”

In a Truth Social post on Sunday morning, Trump attributed his survival to divine intervention and expressed his deep gratitude and compassion for the victims.

“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness,” Trump stated.

“Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” he added.
