Democrat Senator Opposes Laken Riley Act Protecting Americans from Criminal Illegals

California Democrat Senator Alex Padilla made it clear this weekend that he does not support the Laken Riley Act, a bill aimed at protecting Americans from violent illegal aliens. Despite overwhelming bipartisan support for the measure, Padilla outright rejected it, choosing instead to defend the very people the law seeks to hold accountable.

The act is named after 22-year-old Laken Riley, who was brutally murdered by 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal alien Jose Ibarra a man who never should have been in the country in the first place. Yet, during an interview on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Padilla dismissed the bill, calling it “not immigration policy” and misleadingly claiming that violent criminals are already being deported under current law.

When pressed multiple times by host Kristen Welker on whether he would support the bill, Padilla finally admitted, “As currently written, I’m a no.” His reasoning? He claimed it would lead to the deportation of individuals who have only been charged not convicted of crimes, including minors and so-called Dreamers.

Padilla’s stance is alarming for several reasons:

• The Laken Riley Act is a direct response to violent crimes committed by illegal aliens, yet Democrats like Padilla are more concerned with shielding criminals than protecting American citizens.

• Illegal immigration is at record highs, with over 10 million border encounters under Biden’s presidency and many criminals among them.

• Deporting criminal aliens should not be controversial, yet Democrats continue to fight against common-sense measures that would keep communities safe.

Padilla’s opposition to the Laken Riley Act isn’t just about one bill it’s about the broader Democrat agenda that prioritizes open borders and coddles illegal aliens at the expense of public safety. The Biden administration’s refusal to enforce immigration laws has already resulted in countless tragedies, and Padilla’s stance is just another example of this reckless, anti-American policy.

Americans deserve lawmakers who put their safety first not politicians who make excuses for criminals and block necessary reforms. The Laken Riley Act should be a no-brainer, yet Padilla and his party continue to play politics while Americans pay the price.
