Obama Encourages Men to Have Gay Friends, Citing Understanding for ‘Non-Binary’ Sons

The former president’s comments highlight his ongoing push for radical gender ideology, a stance rejected by many Americans.

Former President Barack Obama is once again wading into America’s cultural debates, this time claiming that men should have gay friends to “call them out” and prepare them in case they have a gay or “non-binary” son. The comments were made during an episode of his wife Michelle Obama’s “IMO” podcast, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson.

Discussing how boys need role models, Obama said fathers alone cannot shape a young man’s worldview. “No matter how good the dad is, he can’t be everything,” Obama remarked. “And that boy may need somebody to give the boy some perspective on the dad, right?” He went on to describe a gay professor who “called him out” for making “ignorant” remarks in college, saying such relationships can teach “empathy and kindness.”

Obama then suggested men should maintain gay friends so they are prepared for the possibility of raising a gay or “non-binary” child. “You need that person in your friend group, so that if you then have a boy who is gay or non-binary or what have you, they have somebody that they can go, ‘Okay, I’m not alone in this,’” he said.

This is not the first time Obama has pushed radical gender politics. In 2016, his administration issued a sweeping directive ordering schools to allow males who identify as female into girls’ restrooms and locker rooms. For the first time, Title IX was interpreted to include “gender identity” instead of biological sex. The move sparked backlash across the country from parents and local officials who saw the order as a federal overreach and a direct assault on privacy and safety in schools.

Under President Donald Trump, the Justice Department returned Title IX to its original intent protecting against discrimination based on biological sex. Trump’s administration has also challenged progressive states for violating Title IX protections by forcing schools and sports teams to adopt policies based on gender identity rather than reality.

Key points to consider:

  • Obama’s comments reflect the continued left-wing effort to normalize gender ideology among children.

  • Polling shows that over 60% of Americans oppose biological males entering female-only spaces, a policy originally pushed by the Obama administration.

  • Trump’s interpretation of Title IX restored long-standing protections for women’s sports and privacy, rolling back Obama-era mandates.

For many Americans, Obama’s latest remarks serve as another reminder of the progressive agenda’s obsession with reshaping cultural norms especially when it comes to children. His call for men to prepare for a “non-binary” son isn’t just personal advice; it reflects a broader attempt to redefine family dynamics in line with radical gender theory.
