Noem says 1.6 million illegal immigrants self-deported under Trump

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced a stunning development this week: over 1.6 million illegal immigrants have voluntarily left the United States in just the first 200 days of President Donald Trump’s second term.

According to Noem, this massive self-deportation wave is the result of Trump’s unapologetic and law-driven approach to illegal immigration a stark contrast to the open-border chaos that defined the Biden era.

“We have 1.6 [million] illegal immigrants that have left this country voluntarily,” she said. “These numbers just show exactly the genius of Donald J. Trump… He knew he had to make America safe again.”

Noem revealed that even before Inauguration Day, Trump began laying the groundwork. She said he told her bluntly:

“Kristi, if you’re going to be my Homeland Security Secretary, we’re going to follow the law… You’re going to tell the world that no longer will we tolerate people being in our country illegally, and that they need to go home.”

And that’s exactly what they’ve done.

Unlike Biden’s border czar Kamala Harris, who failed spectacularly to enforce even basic security measures, Noem has taken an aggressive and highly visible approach. “Overwhelmingly, the world got the message,” Noem said. “They’re leaving on their own, which is the best thing for American citizens.”

Under Biden, the country saw over 6.3 million illegal crossings between 2021 and 2024. American cities were overrun. Sanctuary policies became magnets for lawbreakers. Schools and hospitals were overwhelmed, and violent crimes involving illegal immigrants skyrocketed.
