Trump’s Super Bowl Visit Sparks Reactions from NFL Players

President Donald Trump’s attendance at Super Bowl LIX has drawn positive reactions from some of the biggest stars in the game, with several players calling it an “honor” to play in front of him.

The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming for their third consecutive Super Bowl victory as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of the 2023 championship. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was enthusiastic when asked about Trump being in attendance.

“That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,” Kelce said. “No matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life. And having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a similar sentiment, saying, “It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is at the top position in our country.”

Trump, who has been complimentary of Mahomes ahead of the game, hinted at his preference without directly naming the star QB. “I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner,” Trump said earlier in the week.

Mahomes took the praise in stride: “It’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play.”

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and offensive tackle Jordan Mailata acknowledged Trump’s attendance but made it clear their focus remained on the game.

“That’s cool, but Donald is not on that field,” Mailata said. “What am I going to do thinking about Donald Trump? How is that going to make me win the game?”

Trump’s presence at the Super Bowl has even received praise from players who aren’t in the game this year. Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill called the opportunity to play in front of Trump “something to knock off the bucket list.”

“I’ve always been a fan of Donald Trump, by the way, so that would be awesome,” Hill added.

As Trump enjoys the Super Bowl alongside millions of Americans, his warm reception from players once again highlights his connection with everyday people including some of the biggest stars in sports.
