Newsom Caught Using State Funds to Blame Trump Before Election

Just days before a crucial election, California Governor Gavin Newsom is using taxpayer-funded government channels to push blatantly partisan, anti-Trump propaganda and he's doing it under the guise of public assistance.

The California Department of Social Services sent out statewide text messages to residents that directly blame President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans for an alleged lapse in food stamp benefits. The message, reviewed in screenshots, read:

“President Trump & Congress failed to reopen federal government. Nov. CalFresh benefits will be delayed. Oct. benefits unaffected.”

Yes, you read that correctly. California’s taxpayer-funded infrastructure is being exploited by Democrats to manipulate low-income voters with false and misleading claims and all while pretending to care about the needy.

When asked for clarification, Newsom’s office arrogantly responded, “Seriously?” and doubled down by again blaming Trump. Only when cornered did they redirect attention to a USDA page that, ironically, highlights Senate Democrats' repeated refusals to fund the SNAP (food stamp) program.

Here’s what’s really going on:

• Senate Democrats have voted 12 times against funding the food stamp program, per USDA’s official site.

• California leads the nation in poverty and unemployment, yet Newsom’s team is more focused on blaming Trump than fixing their own broken state.

• Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) blasted Newsom for “peddling misinformation for partisan gain” and noted that California’s poorest are paying the price for Sacramento’s dysfunction.

The message was especially suspect given its timing just days ahead of a major vote on Proposition 50, a Democrat-backed initiative designed to gerrymander California even further left. As Assemblyman Carl DeMaio put it, “This is as outrageous as you can get when it comes to taxpayer money being used to promote lies.”

Even more damning is that Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), another Democrat, openly admitted in a commercial that he was fine shutting down the government to fund far-left pet projects like free healthcare for illegal immigrants and gender procedures. Yet somehow, it's Trump who gets the blame?

Newsom’s stunt is the latest chapter in the Democratic playbook of fear and deception. Instead of leading, they politicize public services. Instead of offering solutions, they gaslight voters. And instead of owning their failures, they weaponize welfare systems to score political points.

This isn’t about helping struggling families. It’s about leveraging crisis messaging to influence elections. It’s about distracting voters from the Democrats' failures from sky-high inflation to out-of-control homelessness and the exodus of businesses fleeing the state.

It’s California politics as usual corrupt, cynical, and completely detached from reality.
