Gavin Newsom Melts Down Over Marine Deployment and Picks a Fight He Can’t Win
As ICE agents are attacked, Newsom lashes out at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for doing the job he won’t.

California Governor Gavin Newsom may have finally crossed the line from negligence to outright madness.
Over the weekend, Newsom launched an unhinged tirade against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after the Pentagon placed active-duty Marines at Camp Pendleton on high alert prepared to intervene in Los Angeles if violent anti-ICE riots continue. The reason? Federal law enforcement officers are being attacked in broad daylight, and Newsom refuses to stop it.
“The Secretary of Defense is now threatening to deploy active-duty Marines on American soil against its own citizens. This is deranged behavior,” Newsom posted on X.
“Deranged”? Let’s talk about deranged. Allowing mobs to hurl rocks at federal agents, vandalize government vehicles, and threaten ICE officers while offering them political cover that’s deranged. Ignoring the law while demanding federal troops stand down? That’s dereliction of duty.
Defense Secretary Hegseth didn’t flinch. He fired back:
“Deranged = allowing your city to burn & law enforcement to be attacked. There is plenty of room for peaceful protest, but ZERO tolerance for attacking federal agents who are doing their job. The National Guard, and Marines if need be, stand with ICE.”
2,000 National Guard troops are already on the ground in LA, deployed under a Presidential Memorandum signed by President Trump after invoking the Insurrection Act of 1807.
Active-duty Marines are ready to move if the situation deteriorates further.
ICE operations have faced violent resistance as they execute lawful deportation orders for criminal illegal aliens, including those with felony convictions.
Trump’s White House didn’t hold back either. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed California’s leadership as “feckless”, stating:
“These operations are essential to halting and reversing the invasion of illegal criminals into the United States... The Trump Administration has a zero tolerance policy for criminal behavior and violence, especially when that violence is aimed at law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs.”
The federal government didn’t create this crisis California’s sanctuary state policies did. Newsom is outraged not because Trump is doing something unconstitutional, but because he’s doing something effective. For years, California Democrats have coddled criminal illegal aliens, shielded them from deportation, and criminalized the law enforcement officers trying to clean up their mess.
Now, with federal agents under siege and chaos spilling into the streets, Newsom is throwing tantrums instead of taking responsibility.
He wants peaceful protests, but he refuses to stop violent ones. He wants the rule of law, but only when it doesn’t interfere with his radical agenda. He wants respect for the Constitution unless it means enforcing immigration laws that his party has spent years trying to dismantle.
Thankfully, the adults are back in charge. Trump, Hegseth, and Bongino have made it clear: law and order will be restored, and federal officers will not be sacrificed to appease the mob.
The message is simple: if state leaders won’t defend their own cities, the federal government will with boots on the ground and zero apologies.
