Netflix Ends $100M Deal With Prince Harry And Meghan Markle
The streaming giant opts not to renew the royal couple’s contract after underwhelming projects.

Netflix has decided to cut ties with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, ending their $100 million deal when it expires this September, according to a report from The Sun. The royal couple’s multi-year partnership with the streaming platform, which began in 2020, was initially hailed as a major content deal but has now fizzled due to underwhelming audience engagement.
While their 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan remains their biggest success, other projects have failed to resonate with Netflix viewers. Prince Harry’s sports-focused series Polo ranked a dismal 3,436 in Netflix’s Engagement Report, and Meghan’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan landed at 383 on the list.
A second season of Meghan’s series has already been filmed and is slated for release in September, with Chrissy Teigen set to appear as the first guest. However, despite ongoing content, Netflix has confirmed it will not be renewing the deal.
“There’s no animosity from either side,” an insider told The Sun. “Things have just run their course. Netflix was smart to capitalize on the first documentary series, which brought in a huge audience, but realistically, it was the peak of content from the Montecito pair.”
Key details about the failed partnership:
The couple’s $100 million deal was signed in 2020 following their departure from royal duties.
Harry & Meghan was one of Netflix’s most talked-about series but was not followed by similar successes.
Critics have slammed the pair as “grifters,” with social media users celebrating the end of the deal.
Despite the end of their Netflix contract, Harry and Meghan have sought other media ventures to build their post-royal brand, but many have fallen flat. Their difficulties in maintaining a consistent American fan base highlight the challenges they face without the royal spotlight.
Social media erupted after news broke of Netflix pulling the plug. “Good. The grifters are out of business,” one user wrote. Another added, “I am only surprised that Netflix thought this was a good business decision in the first place,” while a third commenter bluntly called them “insufferable fools.”
The decision marks a significant blow to the couple’s post-royal ambitions, as Netflix’s massive platform had provided them with global exposure. Without a renewed contract, their media empire appears increasingly shaky.
