Netanyahu Dismisses NYC Arrest Threat as ‘Silly,’ Stands Firm with Trump
Israeli PM slams socialist mayoral candidate’s rhetoric, warns peace must never come at the cost of Israel’s survival.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it crystal clear this week he’s not worried about being arrested in New York City, despite radical threats from the city’s leading Democratic mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani.
“I’m not concerned about that,” Netanyahu said when asked about Mamdani’s vow to arrest him over the ICC’s politically motivated arrest warrant. “I’m going to come there with President Trump and we’ll see.”
Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist and darling of the far-left, declared back in December that New York City would arrest Netanyahu if he entered its jurisdiction.
“This is a city that our values are in line with international law,” he claimed, referencing the International Criminal Court’s attempt to equate Israel with Hamas terrorists.
Netanyahu wasn’t buying the bluster. “It’s silly in many ways, because it’s just not serious,” he said, brushing off Mamdani’s fantasy politics as unserious and disconnected from reality.
President Trump didn’t hold back either. “He’s not a socialist. He’s a communist,” Trump said of Mamdani. “He’s said some really bad things about Jewish people… He’s going to behave. He better behave. Otherwise, he’s going to have big problems.”
Their comments came after a high-level meeting at the White House, where Netanyahu and Trump discussed Iran, the Abraham Accords, and Israel’s ongoing campaign to defeat Hamas in Gaza.
But Netanyahu also turned serious when asked about the future of the region. He emphasized the failure of the two-state model particularly in the wake of Hamas’s Oct. 7 terror attack, which left Israelis raped, mutilated, and murdered in numbers not seen since the Holocaust.
“People said the Palestinians had a state Hamas in Gaza and look what they did with it,” he said. “They didn’t build it up. They built terror tunnels. They massacred our people. Horrendous massacres we hadn’t seen since World War II.”
And the world wants Israel to give them another state?
“We’ll work out a peace with Palestinian neighbors who don’t want to destroy us,” Netanyahu continued, “but our security must remain in our own hands. We don’t care if they call it a full state or not we will never let another October 7 happen.”
This is the kind of leadership that doesn’t blink in the face of threats whether they come from radical mayors, international courts, or terrorist regimes.
