NBC Attacked for Equating Comer’s Digital Signature with Biden’s Autopen Abuse
Media outlet mocked for desperate attempt to blur the line between routine digital correspondence and executive overreach by an unfit president.

NBC News just embarrassed itself in spectacular fashion. In an ill-conceived hit piece, the left-leaning outlet tried to paint Rep. James Comer (R-KY) as a hypocrite for using a digital signature an everyday practice in Congress while investigating Joe Biden’s disturbing and arguably unconstitutional use of the presidential autopen.
The piece, ironically titled “Lead investigator into Biden’s use of an autopen signed letters with a digital signature,” exposes more about NBC’s agenda than it does about Comer. According to NBC, their “analysis” of Comer’s letters using Adobe Acrobat revealed digital signatures something that has been common practice on Capitol Hill for decades.
But the actual scandal isn’t about digital signatures. It’s about the Biden White House bypassing the most basic principles of executive accountability.
Joe Biden admitted to signing off on blanket standards for pardons without reviewing individual names effectively outsourcing presidential authority to unelected staffers.
Presidential pardons are constitutional acts that require personal attention by the sitting president, not delegation to bureaucrats armed with a robotic pen.
In stark contrast, Comer uses digital signatures only for non-binding letters, while all legally binding subpoenas under his oversight bear a wet signature, according to his office.
A spokesperson for Comer called the comparison not only "absurd" but misleading, highlighting a fundamental difference between signing routine correspondence and making sweeping legal decisions without direct review.
NBC’s attempt to equate the two is not just poor journalism it’s partisan damage control. At a time when Biden’s mental acuity is under national scrutiny, with 77% of Americans saying he’s too old for a second term (according to ABC/Ipsos), this kind of media narrative-building is a thinly veiled effort to cover for a failing president.
The conservative backlash was swift:
Mollie Hemingway called it what it is “Democrat propaganda” designed to distract from Biden’s decline.
GOP strategist Greg Price rightly noted this was among the “lamest attempts” by the media to cover for a Democrat scandal.
And Sean Davis of The Federalist didn’t mince words, blasting the comparison as "insulting" and a "cover-up" for the Biden staffers abusing power behind a mentally diminished figurehead.
This isn't about a signature. It’s about who’s actually running the White House and the press doesn’t want you asking that question.
