Nancy Pelosi’s Book Tour Disrupted by Anti-Israel Protesters

Former House Speaker dismisses criticism and defends Biden’s Israel policies amid ongoing conflict.

Nancy Pelosi’s book tour stop in New York City turned chaotic when anti-Israel protesters interrupted her discussion with host Katie Couric at the 92NY cultural center. The hecklers loudly voiced their opposition to Pelosi’s stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, leading to a brief pause in the event.

Pelosi, undeterred, attempted to turn the disruption into a moment of reflection, urging the audience to pray for the hostages currently held by Hamas terrorists. “Let us bow our heads for the hostages, and be prayerful about the hostages, which they never mention,” Pelosi said, directly addressing the protesters’ omission of this critical issue.

The interruption came as Pelosi was recounting her “grave disagreement” with former President George W. Bush over the Iraq War, a topic that apparently gave protesters an opening to inject their criticisms. Cries of “There’s children dying in Gaza” and other remarks briefly overshadowed the conversation. Pelosi, however, dismissed the ordeal, quipping, “I’m from San Francisco, I’m used to this.”

Pelosi also used the platform to defend President Joe Biden’s controversial approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict, reiterating his commitment to a two-state solution and humanitarian aid for Gaza. However, Biden’s policies have come under scrutiny as Hamas continues to undermine peace efforts and divert international aid meant for civilians.

This is far from the first time Pelosi has faced backlash from anti-Israel activists. While calling for peaceful resolutions and condemning violence, Pelosi’s unwavering support for Biden’s administration has drawn ire from critics on both sides of the political spectrum.

As the Israel-Hamas conflict persists, the divide between principled policy discussions and emotional outbursts like these grows more evident. Pelosi’s experience in New York is a stark reminder of the challenges leaders face when addressing volatile geopolitical issues amid rising tensions at home.
