Elon Musk and RFK Jr. Criticize John Kerry Over His Remarks on the First Amendment

Kerry’s Call to Curb Free Speech Ignites Backlash from Conservatives.

John Kerry, the former Democrat presidential candidate, has ignited a firestorm of criticism after remarks he made at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Green Energy, where he called the First Amendment a “major block” to combating what he described as "disinformation." His comments have drawn swift and fierce reactions from prominent voices, including Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and other defenders of free speech.

Kerry’s comments came as he expressed frustration with the inability to control so-called disinformation. He openly suggested that if Democrats win the 2024 election, the First Amendment could be "changed" to address the issue. “Our First Amendment stands as a major block to be able to just, you know, hammer it out of existence,” Kerry said, referring to what he sees as harmful information circulating in the media.

The backlash was immediate and harsh. Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), did not mince words, responding on his platform, “John Kerry is saying he wants to violate the Constitution.” Musk further warned that Kerry’s comments signal a potential threat to free speech if the Democrats regain full power. “If Trump loses the election, it will be the last one,” Musk echoed from another user’s post, alluding to the Democrats’ push to reshape the constitutional landscape.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., running as an independent in the 2024 presidential race, weighed in, agreeing with Kerry’s disturbing admission. “John Kerry is correct. The 1st Amendment DOES stand as a major roadblock to them right now,” Kennedy wrote, emphasizing the threat that Democrats pose to fundamental American rights.

The criticisms didn’t stop there:

  • Dr. Jordan Peterson chimed in, remarking, “I don’t know how John Kerry can say such things without bursting into flames.”

  • One user pointed out, “The 1st Amendment and the entire Bill of Rights was designed as a ‘roadblock’ against a tyrannical government. It’s a feature, not a bug.”

  • Others noted how alarming it is that a “former Democratic presidential candidate no longer even pretends to believe in the First Amendment.”

Kerry’s comments have sparked outrage, highlighting the growing divide over free speech in America. As Democrats push for more control over media narratives, many are raising alarms over what this means for the Constitution and the future of freedom in the country. This fight is shaping up to be one of the defining issues heading into the 2024 election.
