Pentagon Prepares 1,500 Troops for Possible Minnesota Deployment Amid ICE Unrest

Trump threatens to invoke Insurrection Act as Biden-era sanctuary chaos spirals out of control.

The Pentagon is now preparing 1,500 active-duty soldiers for potential deployment to Minnesota as violence and lawlessness spiral out of control in the Democrat-run state, two senior U.S. officials confirmed Sunday.

The troops cold-weather infantry battalions from Alaska’s 11th Airborne Division have been placed on prepare-to-deploy orders, as the federal government braces for further unrest following widespread clashes over President Trump’s immigration enforcement actions. The possible deployment marks yet another flashpoint in what Trump has described as a “domestic insurrection enabled by corrupt state leaders.”

“If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of ICE... I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT,” Trump warned Thursday on Truth Social.

The unrest exploded after ICE agents fatally shot Renee Good during a confrontation last week, prompting radical protests, federal property destruction, and violent standoffs in Minneapolis and St. Paul two cities long governed by soft-on-crime Democrats. In response, the Trump administration has already deployed nearly 3,000 ICE and Border Patrol agents to secure the area.

Despite the federal presence, the situation has remained volatile, forcing the Pentagon to consider an additional military deployment to stabilize the situation especially if Governor Tim Walz, now under criminal investigation by the DOJ, continues to resist federal efforts to restore order.

“This isn’t about protest. It’s about lawless mobs targeting immigration officers who are doing their job,” one senior DHS official said. “Minnesota leadership has abandoned the rule of law.”

While the Trump administration has not formally invoked the Insurrection Act, officials say it remains a powerful legal tool at the president’s disposal. Under the act, the president may deploy the military within U.S. borders to quell domestic uprisings and protect federal personnel and property something Trump has already done in cities like Los Angeles, D.C., and Portland.

In fact, even without using the Insurrection Act, the president retains the constitutional authority to deploy troops for specific domestic roles, including the protection of federal infrastructure the justification used during prior urban deployments.

Meanwhile, Minnesota Governor Walz already facing backlash for failing to stop massive welfare fraud scandals has tried to cover his tracks by calling up the state’s National Guard, while still rejecting Trump’s broader law-and-order strategy.

Let’s be blunt: this chaos is what happens when states ignore federal immigration law, shield criminal aliens, and weaponize local institutions against ICE agents.

  • Minneapolis and St. Paul are sanctuary cities.

  • ICE is actively being obstructed by protesters encouraged by Democrat leaders, including Rep. Ilhan Omar.

  • Trump is trying to clean up a mess years in the making, fueled by open-border ideology and far-left anarchy.

Democrats are already screeching about “federal overreach,” but the American people see the truth: President Trump is doing what weak governors and mayors won’t — restoring order and protecting American lives.

The 1,500 troops now on standby are a reminder that Washington is watching, and the lawless playgrounds built by woke politicians will not go unchecked any longer.
