Transgender Shooter Identified in Minneapolis Catholic School Massacre

FBI confirms attack is being investigated as domestic terrorism and anti-Catholic hate crime.

The tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning has taken a chilling turn, as authorities identified the suspect as Robin M. Westman, a 24-year-old biological male who legally changed his name from Robert Paul Westman in 2019 after identifying as transgender.

According to law enforcement, Westman entered the Catholic school during morning Mass armed with three legally purchased firearms: a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol. In the span of minutes, he murdered two children ages 8 and 10 and injured 17 others, including 14 children. Authorities confirmed the shooter committed suicide at the scene.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced the bureau is now investigating the massacre as a domestic terror attack and hate crime targeting the Catholic community, saying:

"The FBI is investigating this shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics."

Here’s what we know so far:

  • Robin Westman was born Robert Paul Westman and had no prior criminal record. He had legally changed his name and identified as female since 2019.

  • The shooter’s mother, Mary Grace Westman, previously served as parish secretary at the school where the shooting took place. Court documents confirm her involvement in Westman's name change.

  • Westman posted disturbing videos and writings online prior to the shooting. Authorities are examining what they describe as a “manifesto”, which was reportedly timed for release on YouTube during or after the shooting.

  • All three weapons were legally purchased, and police have now seized additional firearms from multiple residences linked to the suspect.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed the videos and writings are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. “It appeared to show him at the scene and included some disturbing writing,” O’Hara stated.

Meanwhile, hospital officials report that several children remain in critical condition, including six being treated at Children’s Minnesota, with others released or transferred.

And yet despite all this Mayor Jacob Frey chose to focus on the trans community, warning against “villainizing” the shooter’s identity rather than mourning with the Catholic community or seeking justice for the victims.

The tragedy echoes the 2023 Nashville Covenant School shooting, where a transgender-identifying attacker also targeted Christian children. Once again, the media narrative seems disturbingly eager to pivot away from the victims and toward the political protection of a violent ideology.

This wasn’t just a mass shooting it was a targeted assault on faith, children, and truth.

Now the country waits for answers as to why a transgender shooter targeted a Catholic school. The victims and their families deserve far more than shallow calls for “understanding” and tired political talking points.
