Minneapolis Mayor Prioritizes Trans Politics Over Catholic School Victims

As families mourn two murdered children, Mayor Jacob Frey urges compassion just not for the Catholic community.

In the immediate aftermath of a horrifying school shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic elementary school that left two children dead and nearly 20 others injured, Mayor Jacob Frey decided the most pressing concern wasn’t the grieving families but the feelings of the trans community.

During a Wednesday press conference, Frey issued a warning not to potential shooters, but to anyone who dared criticize the identity of the attacker, who was reportedly a biological male identifying as transgender.

“I have heard about a whole lot of HATE being directed at our trans community,” Frey said, adding, “Anybody who is using this as an opportunity to villainize our trans community… has lost their sense of common humanity.”

Two innocent children are dead, nearly two dozen more are recovering from bullet wounds, and the city’s top official is worried about potential backlash against a radicalized identity group not the broken Catholic community that was directly attacked.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this twisted narrative. When the Nashville Covenant School was targeted in 2023 by another transgender-identifying shooter, the media and political Left pivoted in record time turning the spotlight away from the Christian victims and onto the “real” victims: trans activists.

And just like clockwork, it’s happening again in Minneapolis.

Here’s the hard truth politicians like Frey won’t say out loud:

  • The perpetrator of this attack was reportedly known to law enforcement and had a history of mental instability, including online posts indicating violent intentions.

  • Instead of focusing on security failures or community support for the devastated Catholic families, Mayor Frey used his platform to lecture law-abiding citizens about “hate” and to bash those offering prayers for the victims.

  • Meanwhile, Democrats and leftist media outlets are preparing yet another round of calls for blanket gun bans, targeting millions of law-abiding Americans while refusing to address the growing trend of ideologically motivated violence.

Charlie Kirk put it best. “Anybody who is more concerned about the ‘trans community’ after this tragedy than the Catholic community that just lost two little kids… has lost their sense of common humanity.”

It’s not hate to demand accountability. It’s not hate to demand answers when children are gunned down in cold blood. And it’s not hate to expect that our leaders especially in moments of tragedy stand with the victims, not the perpetrator’s protected identity group.

But for the Left, identity always trumps innocence. Even when children die.
