Armed Suspect Shot Dead by Federal Agents During Immigration Operation in Minneapolis

Federal immigration authorities shot and killed an armed suspect in Minneapolis on Saturday during a targeted operation, once again igniting outrage from the left not at criminals, but at the officers risking their lives to protect our communities.

The suspect, reportedly armed with a semi-automatic handgun and two magazines, confronted Border Patrol agents in broad daylight near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue. According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the individual violently resisted attempts to disarm him during the operation, which was aimed at apprehending an illegal immigrant wanted for violent assault.

“Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots,” DHS stated. The suspect died at the scene despite medics’ immediate response.

But instead of backing the brave agents, Minnesota’s Democrat Governor Tim Walz chose to escalate the rhetoric. In a pair of inflammatory posts on X, Walz claimed the shooting was “sickening,” demanded President Biden end the federal operation, and called the agents “violent, untrained officers.” This, despite the fact that the operation has already led to the arrest of over 3,000 criminal illegal aliens including pedophiles, drug traffickers, and violent felons in just a few months.

Let’s be very clear about what happened:

• An armed man with no identification confronted federal agents during a lawful operation.

• DHS confirms he carried two full magazines, suggesting intent to inflict mass harm.

• When agents defended themselves, around 200 rioters quickly descended on the scene, assaulting law enforcement and obstructing the investigation.

What followed was yet another attempt by left-wing officials to vilify ICE and Border Patrol the very people cleaning up the mess created by lax sanctuary policies.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin did not hold back: “Many of these public safety threats were released from Minnesota jails. We are calling on Governor Walz and Mayor Frey to honor the more than 1,360 detainers of illegal aliens in Minnesota jails.” Instead, these so-called leaders have sided with criminals and mob protesters, not the men and women on the front lines.

This isn’t the first time violence has followed DHS enforcement actions in the area. Just weeks ago, a suspect tried to run over an ICE agent with her car, putting him in the hospital with internal bleeding. That suspect was also shot and killed again leading to outcry from anti-ICE activists, not concern for the officer’s life.

Here’s the bottom line:

• Leftist officials are obstructing justice and stoking anti-police sentiment.

• Federal officers are being physically attacked for doing their jobs in a city that’s let law and order collapse.

If the Biden administration had any backbone, it would back its own agents and call out Governor Walz for undermining public safety. But with the Democrat Party increasingly beholden to open borders activists, don’t hold your breath.
