Mike Collins Launches Senate Bid To Defeat Jon Ossoff

The pro-Trump congressman vows to steamroll the radical Left and take back Georgia’s Senate seat.

Georgia Republican Rep. Mike Collins is stepping up to take on Senator Jon Ossoff, officially announcing his run for the U.S. Senate with a fiery promise to “steamroll the radical Left” and deliver on President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.

Collins, a conservative businessman and trucking company owner, has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most outspoken pro-Trump voices in Congress since winning his House seat in 2022. His campaign launch video, released Monday on X, takes direct aim at Ossoff, painting the Democrat as out of step with Georgia’s values.

“I don’t know who Jon Ossoff really works for, but it sure as heck isn’t Georgia,” Collins declared. “Jon Ossoff does not represent Georgia’s values and has attacked our state’s best interests at every opportunity. He’s voted to raise taxes on Georgia families, supercharge inflation, open our Southern Border, and allow men to play women’s sports.”

Collins’ campaign rollout includes a clip of President Trump praising the Georgia congressman, solidifying his close ties to the former president. “Mike Collins. Mike, you were fantastic. He loves this state, and he took this very personally,” Trump is heard saying in the video.

The congressman also highlighted his legislative achievements, particularly the Laken Riley Act, which was signed into law by Trump earlier this year. The bill named after a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student tragically killed by an illegal immigrant in February 2024 strengthens federal detention capabilities for undocumented immigrants charged with serious crimes. Collins has made border security and cracking down on illegal immigration a cornerstone of his platform.

Ossoff, who won his seat in the narrow 2020 runoff following the highly contested elections, is considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election in 2026. With Trump’s return to the White House and his 2024 victory in Georgia, Republicans see a prime opportunity to flip the seat.

  • Ossoff has raised millions in recent months, signaling that Democrats will pour resources into defending this seat.

  • Georgia’s economy has suffered under Bidenomics, with inflation and soaring energy costs hitting families hard.

  • Border security, election integrity, and cultural issues like protecting women’s sports remain top concerns for GOP voters in the state.

Collins joins what is shaping up to be a crowded Republican primary. Rep. Buddy Carter has already thrown his hat into the ring, and former University of Tennessee coach Derek Dooley is rumored to be weighing a run. Both Carter and Collins are vying for Trump’s endorsement a powerful nod that could decide the outcome before voters head to the polls.

With his trucking company roots and no-nonsense style, Collins is positioning himself as the candidate who will bring common sense, grit, and America First priorities back to the Senate.
