Security Guard Neutralizes Threat at Michigan Church

Quick-thinking deacon and armed guard stop mass shooting as children attend vacation Bible school.

A potential mass tragedy was averted in Wayne, Michigan, this Sunday thanks to the bravery and quick action of a church security team and one courageous deacon with a Ford F-150.

Just before the shooter could enter CrossPointe Community Church, where 150 worshipers, including children, were gathered for a vacation Bible school event, a church deacon slammed into the suspect with his pickup truck. That split-second decision gave the church’s armed security guard the opening to neutralize the threat.

The attacker, a 31-year-old man who fired multiple rounds into the church building, was shot and killed by the security guard, who was injured during the exchange. Miraculously, no one else was harmed in the shooting.

  • Livestream footage from the service showed terrified families ducking for cover as the security team sprang into action.

  • FBI and local authorities are now investigating, and while the motive remains unclear, the shooter was not a known church member.

  • Pastor Bobby Kelly Jr. revealed the church formed its security team 10 years ago in anticipation of increasing threats to Christian congregations.

“We are sitting ducks to someone who wants to come and do harm,” Pastor Kelly said. And he’s right. This isn’t the first time a church has been targeted and it won’t be the last.

This incident is yet another reminder of the growing threats to faith communities across the country. While Democrats in Washington continue to defund police, attack the Second Amendment, and turn a blind eye to anti-Christian violence, everyday Americans are left to protect themselves.

Churches shouldn’t have to resemble fortified compounds, but thanks to a culture of lawlessness fostered under leftist leadership, even worshipers must be ready to act. Thankfully, in Wayne, they were.

Had this security guard been unarmed had that deacon hesitated this story would be very different. Instead, we’re talking about heroes who saved lives with grit, faith, and yes force.
