Michael Rapaport Changes Tune on Trump
Once a vocal critic, the actor now says Trump deserves the respect of every American Jew.

Michael Rapaport was once one of Hollywood’s loudest, most vicious Trump critics. But after witnessing what true leadership looks like especially when it comes to defending Israel and rescuing hostages he’s done a full 180. Now, the same man who used to hurl profane insults at Donald Trump is publicly admitting: “I can’t make fun of him anymore.”
Yes, really.
During a recent interview on Denver’s “Ryan Schuiling Live,” Rapaport opened up about how his views have evolved after meeting freed Israeli hostages and the families of those murdered by Hamas. He made it clear that he credits Donald Trump for their release and for standing by Israel when much of Hollywood and the current White House looked the other way.
“Knowing in my heart, in my guts, in my soul that that’s why I was able to meet them, it’s because of Trump,” Rapaport said. “He deserves my respect, and he deserves Jews’ respect.”
It’s a remarkable shift one driven by courage and moral clarity, two qualities sorely lacking in both the entertainment industry and the Biden administration.
Here’s the reality:
Trump led the charge on a peace deal that saw hostages freed while Biden fumbled through cue cards.
Hollywood has gone silent, with Rapaport blasting his peers for failing to even say “Bring the hostages home” at major awards shows.
Thousands of actors including A-listers like Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix signed a letter refusing to work with Israeli-based film projects, proving that anti-Israel sentiment has become a badge of honor among the Hollywood elite.
Meanwhile, Rapaport has taken a stand and paid a professional price. He’s had comedy shows canceled, been targeted by radical pro-Palestinian activists, and lost gigs. In Portland, protesters even circulated posters of him with X’s over his eyes. His shows in Denver required weapons checks at the door due to credible threats.
And where is the support from Hollywood’s self-proclaimed “defenders of free speech”? Nowhere.
“Because they agree,” Rapaport said bluntly, when asked why no one stood up for him. “Not all of them, but 3,900 of them.”
He was referring to the 3,900-plus signers of a recent Hollywood letter that openly sided against Israel. So much for tolerance.
This isn’t just about Rapaport. It’s about a broader hypocrisy that’s infected liberal Hollywood and the Democratic Party alike. The same folks who scream about “justice” and “equity” go mute when Jewish lives are at stake. The same administration that can’t stop talking about diversity is completely tone-deaf when it comes to Israel.
Under Joe Biden, the United States has been embarrassingly weak on the world stage. His administration has continually appeased anti-Israel forces while dodging accountability. Remember: over 70% of Americans now say the country is on the wrong track, and Biden’s approval on foreign policy hovers around a dismal 33%. Contrast that with Trump, who brokered the Abraham Accords, moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, and never hesitated to call out terrorism for what it is.
Rapaport may not agree with Trump on everything but he knows true leadership when he sees it. And in a town full of cowards, that makes him one of the few willing to say it out loud.
If only more in Hollywood and Washington had the guts to do the same.
