For the First Time, Miami-Dade County Has More Registered Republicans Than Democrats

Once a Democrat stronghold, the heart of South Florida turns Republican as voters reject leftist policies in droves.

In a stunning political shift that underscores Florida’s transformation under Republican leadership, Miami-Dade County has officially flipped red in voter registration for the first time in its history. This once-reliable Democrat stronghold has now joined the majority of Florida in declaring a clear preference for conservative governance.

As of Monday morning, the numbers speak for themselves:

  • 464,370 Republicans are now registered in Miami-Dade

  • 440,790 Democrats remain on the books

  • 59 of Florida’s 67 counties are now majority Republican

This seismic flip follows an aggressive clean-up of the county’s voter rolls, which saw over 172,000 inactive voters removed. The result? A net Republican advantage of over 38,000 new registrants compared to Democrats.

This isn’t just a local story it’s part of a broader red wave that’s overtaken the state. The Republican Party’s steady rise in Florida has accelerated over the past four years, fueled by the strong, results-driven leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis and the America First momentum of President Donald Trump.

To understand how far the shift has gone:

  • In 2021, Republicans made up just 50.5% of registered voters in Florida.

  • As of last week, they now make up 56.3% a gain of nearly 6 percentage points in under four years.

  • Democrats, on the other hand, have fallen to just 4.3 million registrants, a crushing loss of political ground in a once swing-state.

It was DeSantis who first cracked the Miami-Dade code, winning the county in 2022 with nearly 60% of the vote a stunning reversal from his narrow 2018 win. Trump followed that up by dominating the state in 2024, securing a double-digit victory after also winning Miami-Dade, which signaled the race was over before the rest of the country even finished counting.

This red resurgence didn’t happen in a vacuum. Floridians watched as DeSantis:

  • Refused to lock down the state during COVID while blue states descended into chaos

  • Signed landmark laws banning CRT in schools and protecting women's sports

  • Used E-Verify to prioritize legal employment

  • Kicked China out of Florida land ownership deals

  • Responded swiftly and effectively to hurricanes, earning nationwide praise

Meanwhile, Democrats offered only fear-mongering, identity politics, and weak candidates so weak that by 2021, even the Democratic Governors Association gave up on trying to unseat DeSantis.

And now, the results are in. The people of Miami-Dade Latinos, working-class voters, small business owners are rejecting the far-left agenda and choosing security, sanity, and sovereignty.

Florida has officially become the blueprint for conservative success. Miami-Dade’s flip is not just symbolic it’s a warning to Democrats across the country. If they can lose here, they can lose anywhere.
