Mexican President Threatens Retaliation Against Trump’s Tariffs
Leftist leader follows China and Canada in opposing America’s crackdown.

Mexico’s new leftist president, Claudia Sheinbaum, wasted no time proving she stands with globalists over her own country’s best interests. In response to President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Mexican, Canadian, and Chinese imports, Sheinbaum declared she would retaliate with tariffs on American goods, following the lead of Canada and China.
This move comes as no surprise. Instead of addressing the deeper issues like the rampant cartel influence that has turned Mexico into a haven for drug traffickers Sheinbaum is choosing to play politics.
Trump’s new tariffs impose a 25% tax on Mexican and Canadian imports, aimed at holding these countries accountable for their role in America's economic and national security issues.
The White House fact sheet made it clear: Mexico’s government has been complicit in cartel activity, allowing drug traffickers to operate freely, leading to the fentanyl crisis that has devastated American families.
Cartel violence, including the use of armed drones and IEDs, has escalated near the U.S. border, threatening both American and Mexican security forces.
Instead of acknowledging the reality that Mexico has failed to stop cartels from flooding the U.S. with deadly fentanyl, Sheinbaum lashed out. She called the White House’s claims "offensive" and insisted that the U.S. must "take responsibility" for its drug crisis. This, of course, ignores the fact that Mexico has allowed these dangerous organizations to thrive, making billions off the destruction of American lives.
Sheinbaum’s rhetoric is just another example of leftist leaders prioritizing anti-Trump sentiment over real solutions. Mexico could crack down on cartel activity, increase border security, and work with the U.S. to stop the flow of deadly drugs. Instead, Sheinbaum is choosing economic retaliation aligning herself with China and Canada in an effort to undermine Trump’s America-first policies.
The choice for Mexico is simple: clean up its act or face the consequences of protecting criminals. Trump isn’t backing down, and America shouldn’t either.
