Melania Trump Dons Elegant Navy Ensemble for Inauguration Day Church Visit
Soon-to-be first lady showcases timeless style during pre-inauguration traditions.
Melania Trump, the soon-to-be first lady, made a striking appearance on Inauguration Day, wearing a dark navy coat and matching hat with a white stripe for a morning prayer service at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. She completed the ensemble with dark navy heels, black gloves, and an air of timeless sophistication.
The outfit was both stylish and practical for the frigid weather that forced the inauguration ceremony indoors to the Capitol Rotunda for the first time in 40 years.
Melania accompanied her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, to the historic church service before heading to the White House, where they were welcomed by outgoing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for tea and coffee a long-standing presidential transition tradition.
The cordial meeting marked a stark contrast to the 2021 transition, when Donald Trump did not attend Biden’s inauguration or host the incoming administration at the White House. Upon Trump’s arrival, Biden greeted him warmly, saying, “Welcome home.”
Melania Trump’s fashion sense, celebrated during her first tenure as first lady, once again drew attention. Her 2017 inaugural ball gown, designed by French designer Hervé Pierre, is now part of the Smithsonian’s collection at the National Museum of American History. Pierre, who has styled first ladies since the 1990s, is renowned for crafting classic yet contemporary looks that reflect each first lady’s unique personality.
As Donald Trump prepares to take the oath of office for the second time, Melania’s poised presence and impeccable fashion signal a return to familiar traditions for the first family. Her understated elegance and attention to detail underscore her role as a cultural ambassador during one of America’s most significant political events.
