200 Marines Deployed to Florida to Support ICE as Military Expands Border Role
Trump administration escalates military involvement in immigration enforcement across multiple states.

The Trump administration has taken a bold new step in reinforcing America’s immigration enforcement infrastructure, deploying 200 U.S. Marines to Florida in support of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The deployment is part of a broader 700-troop mobilization approved by Secretary of Defense Sean Parnell to support ICE operations in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas.
The Marines, assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 and Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina, will provide critical administrative and logistical support—allowing law enforcement agents to focus exclusively on enforcement operations.
"Service members participating in this mission will perform strictly non-law enforcement duties within ICE facilities," USNORTHCOM said in a statement. "They are specifically prohibited from direct contact with individuals in ICE custody or involvement in any aspect of the custody chain."
But the message is unmistakable: this administration is serious about ending the chaos at the border and restoring law and order across the country.
Parnell emphasized the importance of relieving overburdened ICE officers so they can focus on actual immigration enforcement: “This support provides critical resources to support ICE’s mission, freeing up law enforcement personnel to focus on law enforcement tasks and missions. The Department remains committed to securing 100% operational control of the border.”
This move comes as part of a much larger initiative led by Joint Task Force – Southern Border (JTF-SB), a powerful partnership between the Air Force and U.S. Northern Command. The military is now stepping into roles once left entirely to under-resourced civilian agencies, bringing discipline, structure, and strength to areas overwhelmed by illegal immigration and cartel activity.
Highlights of the ongoing mission:
700 troops total mobilized, including active duty, National Guard, and reserve components.
Air Force assumes control of a 250-mile stretch along the southern border in Texas, creating a new National Defense Area under Joint Base San Antonio.
Navy and Air Force personnel taking over critical federal land patrols, allowing ICE and Border Patrol agents to focus on interdiction and removal.
A battalion of 500 Marines was previously mobilized to Los Angeles in June following left-wing riots targeting immigration enforcement operations.
Naturally, the Left is losing its mind. California Governor Gavin Newsom has already filed a lawsuit against the administration, decrying the troop movement as “completely uncalled for.” But Newsom’s complaints ring hollow when faced with skyrocketing illegal crossings and the threat of criminal activity spilling into American communities.
This isn’t about politics it’s about securing the homeland. President Trump and Secretary Parnell are making clear that under their leadership, America will no longer tolerate open borders or bureaucratic inaction.
The military is now fully in the fight, and the results will be undeniable.
