Mamdani Says He Can Work with Trump Despite Calling Him a Fascist
NYC’s far-left mayor-elect doubles down on insults while cozying up to President Trump for political gain.

In a moment of stunning political gymnastics, New York City’s incoming mayor, Zohran Mamdani, declared he’s ready to work with President Donald Trump even while standing by his claim that Trump is a “fascist” and a “threat to democracy.”
Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, appeared on NBC News Sunday to recap his visit to the White House, where he and President Trump met face-to-face. The encounter was surprisingly cordial considering Mamdani has spent years smearing Trump with the far-left’s favorite slurs: fascist, despot, existential threat, and more.
When asked directly if he still believes Trump is a fascist, Mamdani didn’t flinch.
“Everything that I’ve said in the past, I continue to believe,” he said standing by his inflammatory rhetoric even as he claimed he’s willing to cooperate with the very man he accuses of threatening the republic.
Trump, ever composed, took it in stride: “That’s okay, you can just say it. … It’s easier than explaining. I don’t mind,” he quipped, smiling. And while Mamdani tried to paint his meeting as a mature gesture for the sake of New Yorkers, his continued vilification of the president reveals exactly what this is: a calculated political pivot.
Let’s be honest: Mamdani isn’t compromising he’s trying to have it both ways.
Trash Trump to keep the progressive base happy
Cozy up to him for funding, immigration support, or political cover
Pretend it's all about “serving New Yorkers”
It’s the classic leftist playbook: insult conservatives relentlessly, then pretend to be bipartisan when you need something. The hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer.
What’s even more astonishing is President Trump’s grace in response. Despite Mamdani’s baseless accusations, Trump told reporters, “We agree on a lot more than I would have thought. I want him to do a great job, and we’ll help him do a great job.”
That’s real leadership.
Trump went further, saying he hopes to work with Mamdani on immigration enforcement: “I think if we have known murderers, and known drug dealers, and some very bad people, we want to get them out. He wants to have a safe New York.”
It’s a revealing moment. While the far left wants open borders and sanctuary policies, even Mamdani had to admit he needs a safe New York to survive politically. And that means working with the one man actually willing to enforce immigration laws Donald J. Trump.
Make no mistake: Mamdani’s sudden willingness to cooperate isn’t about maturity or public service it’s about survival. The socialist agenda crumbles without law and order, and deep down, even he knows it.
