Five Charged in Connection to Liam Payne’s Death in Buenos Aires

Five individuals have been charged in connection with the untimely death of Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, who tragically fell from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires this past October. The singer, 31, was staying at the CasaSur hotel at the time of his death, and the incident has since sparked a complex investigation involving drugs, negligence, and accusations against hotel staff and acquaintances.

Among those charged is Argentinian businessman Rogelio “Roger” Nores, a self-described “very dear friend” of Payne. Nores, who claims he left the hotel 40 minutes before the fatal fall, denies involvement, stating, “I could never have imagined something like this would happen.”

Additional charges include:

• Esteban Grassi, the hotel’s chief receptionist, and Gilda Martin, the head of security, both accused of manslaughter.

• Braian Paiz, a hotel waiter, who admitted to supplying drugs to Payne, including cocaine, has been charged with narcotics distribution.

• Ezequiel Pereyra, another hotel employee, also faces charges for supplying drugs.

Payne’s autopsy revealed a toxic cocktail of substances in his system, including crack cocaine and “pink cocaine,” a dangerous mix of ketamine and other drugs. Buenos Aires police discovered Payne’s hotel room in “total disorder,” with reports that staff had called emergency services just minutes before his fall, expressing concerns for his safety.

The staff described Payne as “trashing the room” and noted their fear that his “life may be in danger” due to his presence near the balcony.

Payne’s death sent shockwaves through the music world and beyond. His funeral in November, held in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, was attended by family, friends, and former partner Cheryl, with whom he shares a 7-year-old son, Bear Grey.

The singer’s tragic end, compounded by reports of drug use and reckless behavior in his final hours, highlights the darker struggles often faced by public figures behind closed doors.

As the case progresses, the focus remains on accountability for the negligence and actions that contributed to Payne’s untimely death. While Nores insists on his innocence, the involvement of hotel staff and the presence of narcotics paint a complex picture of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
