Karoline Leavitt Shuts Down FBI Bribery Smear Against Tom Homan

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a blistering takedown Monday of what she called a politically motivated smear campaign against Tom Homan, President Trump’s border czar and former ICE chief.

During a press briefing, Leavitt forcefully denied reports that Homan accepted a $50,000 bribe from undercover FBI agents posing as businessmen calling it a failed entrapment operation orchestrated by the Biden Justice Department during the heat of a presidential campaign.

“Mr. Homan never took the $50,000 that you’re referring to, so you should get your facts straight,” Leavitt told a reporter. “This was another example of the weaponization of the Biden Department of Justice against one of President Trump’s strongest and most vocal supporters.”

What Really Happened:

• Undercover FBI agents approached Homan in September 2024 in Texas, offering a $50,000 “payment” in exchange for help securing government contracts once Trump returned to office.

• The agents waited for months, watching to see if Homan would follow through on any promises but he never did.

• According to FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, the case was fully reviewed and closed after prosecutors found no credible evidence of wrongdoing.

Leavitt made it clear: Tom Homan did nothing wrong and even Biden’s DOJ had to admit it.

“The president and this White House stand by Tom Homan 100%,” she said. “He is a brave public servant who has done a phenomenal job in helping the president shut down the border.”

The investigation reportedly began in summer 2024 after an informant in an unrelated case made unsubstantiated claims that Homan was offering contracts in exchange for future payments. That tip, conveniently timed in an election year, was enough to justify another politically motivated fishing expedition the kind we've seen again and again from this administration.

Even MSNBC, which first reported the probe, had to admit that the FBI’s operation failed to catch Homan doing anything illegal.

Leavitt didn’t hold back: the entire affair was an entrapment attempt one designed to discredit a loyal Trump ally who played a pivotal role in executing the 45th president’s successful border enforcement policies.

And it's not just Homan. This is part of a broader pattern:

• Use federal law enforcement to investigate Trump officials under flimsy pretenses.

• Leak the existence of the probe to left-wing media outlets.

• Allow the smear to fester in headlines, even after the investigation is quietly dropped.

It’s lawfare, plain and simple and it’s weaponizing the DOJ to interfere with an election.

If Tom Homan had taken the bait, it would’ve been front-page news on every outlet in America. But now that he’s cleared? Crickets.

Let’s be clear: the Biden DOJ doesn’t care about justice it cares about political power. And when they can’t defeat Trump’s team on the merits, they try to destroy them with false accusations and FBI setups.

But this time, they failed.
