LA Mayor Rejects Trump’s Deployment Of Marines Amid Ongoing Immigration Protests
As chaos erupts in Los Angeles, Democrat leadership prioritizes illegal labor over national security.

As violent protests rage in Los Angeles, Democrat leadership is once again more concerned with protecting illegal immigrant labor than ensuring the safety of American citizens. On Sunday, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass pushed back against President Trump’s deployment of the U.S. Marines and National Guard, boldly stating on CNN, “We don’t want them here.”
"I do want to dispel the notion that the military is here. We don’t want them here, they don’t need to be here. Our local law enforcement has complete control of the situation," Bass claimed, downplaying the unrest that has engulfed her city.
Trump initially dispatched 2,000 National Guard troops after anti-ICE protesters turned violent, throwing rocks at federal vehicles, waving Mexican flags, and torching Waymo self-driving cars. As the situation escalated, an additional 2,000 National Guard troops and 700 U.S. Marines were sent to restore order.
Despite the mayor’s dismissive tone, the reality on the ground tells a far different story:
Protests drew crowds of around 30,000 people, with multiple violent incidents resulting in injuries to both officers and demonstrators.
Several arrests and dozens of citations were issued as federal forces worked to stabilize the situation.
Rioters openly attacked federal property and clashed with law enforcement.
In one incident, U.S. Marines detained former Army veteran and naturalized citizen Marcos Leao after he accidentally entered a restricted area while heading to the Veterans Administration office. Leao, showing the calm and grace absent in many protesters, told reporters, “They treated me very fairly… this is a whole stressful situation for everybody.”
The protests were sparked by ICE’s ongoing mass deportation operations ordered by President Trump as part of his campaign promise to target criminal illegal aliens. However, left-wing activists and politicians, like Mayor Bass, continue to conflate criminal enforcement with economic dependency on illegal labor. Bass even lamented that sectors of Los Angeles’ economy “cannot function without immigrant labor,” openly admitting the city’s reliance on illegal workers.
"If the raids hadn’t happened, then that protest would have been a ‘No Kings’ protest," Bass said, attempting to shift blame onto the Trump administration for the escalating unrest. She added that the deportation efforts have delivered a "body blow to our economy."
While critics attempt to paint Trump’s immigration enforcement as overly harsh, the administration has already issued limited exemptions for agricultural sites, hotels, and restaurants. Trump himself acknowledged concerns from farmers and the hospitality industry, stating, “Our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long-time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace.”
Yet despite these exemptions, Democrat leaders like Bass remain committed to defending illegal immigration at any cost, even if it means standing against the rule of law and enabling public disorder. Their allegiance lies not with law-abiding citizens, but with the very policies that have allowed sanctuary cities like Los Angeles to spiral into lawless chaos.
While Trump works to restore law and order, secure our borders, and protect American jobs, Democrat politicians continue to obstruct these efforts in favor of their radical open-border agenda.
