ICE Raids May Disrupt Childcare in LA, Mayor Bass Says

The Democrat leadership in Los Angeles is once again proving how out of touch they are with everyday Americans. In a stunning interview with Katie Couric, LA Mayor Karen Bass expressed her growing panic over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids not because of the lawlessness they address, but because wealthy Angelenos might lose their nannies, housekeepers, and gardeners.

Bass, whose city has been reeling from violent anti-ICE riots in recent days, shamelessly blamed President Donald Trump for enforcing immigration laws that have been ignored for far too long. According to Bass, the real problem isn’t the riots, crime, or illegal immigration itself it’s who’s going to stock grocery shelves and mow lawns.

Bass revealed her true priorities:

• “You think about the mothers who have nannies and housekeepers. They will feel it when there's nobody to do childcare and there's nobody to take their kids to school.”

• “You will feel it when your gardener goes away, and you don't know where he or she is.”

• “My biggest fear is the impact that all Angelenos will begin to feel when the labor of immigrants is absent.”

Bass even claimed grocery stores are seeing empty shelves because there’s “nobody to stock” them, directly tying it to ICE operations that are targeting illegal immigrants, not legal workers.

While law-abiding citizens struggle with rising crime, homelessness, and the consequences of open-border policies, Bass seems more worried about the inconveniences facing LA’s elite when cheap illegal labor is no longer available. This is the Democrat Party’s real immigration policy: protect illegal labor to keep the privileged class comfortable, no matter the cost to American workers or national security.

Meanwhile, the federal government isn’t backing down.

• DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin made it clear: "ICE will continue to enforce the law and arrest criminal illegal aliens."

• ICE raids have focused on criminal illegal aliens with outstanding warrants, prior deportations, and ties to organized crime precisely the individuals that Trump’s America First immigration policies have always targeted.

• A 2023 study by the Center for Immigration Studies found that over 46% of ICE arrests involved illegal immigrants with criminal convictions.

Bass also tried to paint the enforcement efforts as a source of trauma for families, claiming, “It disrupts families. It creates unbelievable pressure and tension.” But the real disruption is the decades-long refusal by Democrats to enforce immigration laws, allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter the country unchecked, while American taxpayers foot the bill for overwhelmed schools, hospitals, and law enforcement.

Let’s not forget: President Trump’s immigration policies are not about cruelty, but about restoring the rule of law, protecting American jobs, and ensuring safety in our communities. The Biden administration and radical Democrats like Bass have abandoned all pretense of protecting American citizens, prioritizing illegal aliens and their own political interests instead.

As ICE continues its lawful mission, Americans are seeing once again why strong leadership matters and why Trump’s America First approach is desperately needed.
