Kristi Noem Defends Trump’s Immigration Policy Against Media Smears

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem refused to let the media distort President Donald Trump’s immigration policies during a heated exchange on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday. When host Margaret Brennan attempted to paint Trump’s policies as cruel, Noem swiftly shut down the narrative, making it clear that enforcing immigration law is not optional.

Brennan brought up the Trump administration’s policy of detaining illegal immigrant families in ICE facilities, a practice also used by previous administrations, including those of George W. Bush and Barack Obama. She pressed Noem on whether she was comfortable with families being held in detention.

“I don’t know that we’re actually reviving it,” Noem responded, before pointing out the real issue: Biden’s failure to enforce federal law.

Noem emphasized that Trump’s approach is about restoring law and order, something the Biden administration deliberately undermined. She announced key appointments, including Todd Lyons as acting director of ICE and Madison Sheahan as deputy secretary, reinforcing Trump’s commitment to strengthening immigration enforcement.

“These officials have done incredible work cleaning up our communities and making them safer,” Noem said. “Adding more people to the team… will allow us to partner with local law enforcement officials to make sure that we truly are following through on enforcing the law. And, if you break our law, then there’s going to be consequences.”

Democrats and the media continue to attack Trump’s immigration policies, yet they conveniently ignore the devastating consequences of Biden’s open-border agenda. By putting experienced leadership in place and enforcing the law, the Trump administration is taking a stand for American safety and sovereignty.
